The Angels have been pegged at -145 money line favorites on the MLB odds boards at bet365, while supporters of the underdog can grab +135 by backing the White Sox.
The total for this contest is coming in at 8 runs, but if you are anticipating a high scoring game, the price to pay on the over is -125. Four of the last five overall meetings between these adversaries have stayed under the number, but 7 of the last 10 played in Anaheim have eclipsed the total.
White Sox (LHP Jose Quintana, 2-1, 3.72 ERA)
The White Sox come into this matchup carrying a two-game winning streak, but their early season struggles have them four games below .500 (17-21) and residing in last place in the American League Central.
Chicago has failed to cash in for bettors as road underdogs, going just 8-20 in the last 28 when positioned as a puppy on the highway. Furthermore, the White Sox are just 1-6 when Quintana is toeing the rubber as an underdog on the road.
The lefty last faced the Angels this past Saturday and despite a fine pitching performance (six innings, five hits and two earned runs), he took the loss (3-2) in a tight matchup.
Angels (RHP Jerome Williams, 2-1, 3.06 ERA)
The Angels continue to be a disappointment, as they find themselves ten games below .500 (15-25) and 11 full games behind the Texas Rangers for first place in the American League West.
Los Angeles, however, is capitalizing against teams with a losing record, as they are 9-2 in the last 11 when facing a club with a record below the .500 mark. But, they are winless in their last four games at home when Williams is the team’s starter.
The Angels have managed a 5-2 record in the next game pitched by Williams if his previous contest produced a quality start, which was the case on Saturday when he gave up two earned runs over 6 2/3 innings pitched.
Williams is 2-0 lifetime versus the White Sox.
The White Sox have stayed under the posted total in 11 of their last 16 games played on the road, while the Angels are over in four of their last five at home. But, for my baseball picks, I'll be taking the chalk and sticking with the Sox to win.
