With a full slate of baseball games on tap for Wednesday, we’ll focus on the evening’s matchups and find out where the lines look promising for our MLB picks.

I’ve been told that I made the right move for hopping on the Yankees bandwagon lately, but after the pounding that Phil Hughes took in his last start, I’m not willing to risk it with my sports picks here. However, we will hang around the AL East for the matchup between the Red Sox and the Rays.
Boston Red Sox (22-17) at Tampa Bay Rays (20-18)
We have a top notch pitching matchup as Jon Lester takes the mound for the Red Sox to face David Price (1-3, 4.78). Some fans might discount the Rays given Price’s poor play in 2013, but the season is one and a half months old and Price is coming off of a 20 win season. He’s still a major force in my book, and it looks as if the MLB odds makers agree.
The Price is Right?
Price has pitched well against the Red Sox for his career. In 16 starts, he has a record of 8-4 with a 2.99 ERA. Bet 365 Sportsbook has given him credit off of his resume as the Rays are a -115 favorite. I actually expected the odds to be close to even or possibly in favor of Boston.
After a devastating start against Colorado, David Price came back strong in a no-decision to Toronto. He gave up 2 earned runs in 8 innings and struck out 8 batters.
Jon Lester, on the other hand, is coming off of a 1 hitter to the same Toronto team where he didn’t relinquish a walk. History could’ve been made, but the Red Sox are more than satisfied with the way that Lester has been pitching. The betting total is 7 +100 and this game has the makings of an Under.

One player that Lester will have to be careful when dealing with is James Loney. When Loney was with the Dodgers, nobody gave him a 2nd thought. The fantasy baseball world still underestimates him, but he’s been a flat-out superstar this season.
On the season, Loney is batting .381 with 3 HR and 17 RBI. In his last 3 games, he’s 5 for 12 with 2 HR and 3 RBI; he’s certainly a player to keep an eye on.
I like the UNDER in this game. Price is not as bad as his record and we all know what Jon Lester can do.
Pick- Boston/Tampa Bay UNDER 7 at Bet 365
Kansas City Royals (19-17) at Los Angeles Angels (15-24)
The price is right, as the Angels are just a -115 betting favorite and they’re coming off of fantastic 6-2 victory over Kansas City last night.
By no means is this a cakewalk, as the starting pitching of Wade Davis (2-3, 5.86) for the Royals and Barry Enright (0-1, 11.37) for the Angels leaves a lot to be desired.
This could be a high scoring game, as Enright has been an inept reliever and Davis gave up 7 runs and 7 hits in just 5 innings in his last start against the Yankees.
What I like more than the OVER in this game is the Angel’s offense and ability to win this game.
Kansas City has started to slow down since their outstanding spring training start, and the Angels have started to put their season together. To further reinforce that idea, the Angels pulled off a major victory last night where Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, and Josh Hamilton all hit home runs. Regardless of L.A.’s poor pitching, look for them to find a way to beat the Royals and start winning consistently.
Pick- Los Angeles Angels -115 at Bet 365 Sportsbook
Good Luck, everyone!
