Two early games are on the agenda before a busy night of bases falls upon us. Are you caught up with all of the latest MLB betting lines?

Let's find out what our handicappers are thinking when it comes to making their favorite MLB picks of the day.

Orioles (Norris) vs. Red Sox (Lackey)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Shane Victorino had a career-night in leading the Red Sox to a blowout win over the Orioles last night. Tonight Victorino and the rest of Boston's lineup tries to get the best of Bud Norris, who's gone 3-6 with a 5.33 ERA in 10 road starts this season.

John Lackey meanwhile has been tremendous at Fenway in 2013, going 5-2 with a 2.07 ERA in nine starts. Ron hit an easy winner with Boston last night and in game two he's backing the home team again, only this time on the run-line.

Athletics (Straily) vs. Tigers (Fister)

Covered by Joe Freda

The Athletics have controlled this series so far and next turn to Dan Straily to put them up 3-0. It's been a second half to forget for the right-hander though, as he's 0-5 with a 5.20 ERA in seven outings since the break.

Then there's Doug Fister, who's 7-3 with a 3.11 ERA at home this year. He's been stepping his game up over the second half, recording a 4-1 mark to go along with a 2.31 ERA. The Tigers are rightly favored at -175 or so, but Joe is thinking the OVER 9 runs (at -105 in the MLB odds) is the best bet here.

Cubs (Jackson) vs. Dodgers (Nolasco)

Covered by Ron Patrick

One of the early games today features the Dodgers and Cubs. Chicago won a close one against Clayton Kershaw last night, but now have to deal with another hot pitcher in Ricky Nolasco, who was practically unhittable in his most recent start.

Unfortunately for the Cubs, they can't feel too confident with Edwin Jackson on the hill. He's 3-7 with a 5.49 ERA on the road and has to face a Dodgers lineup that will be raring to get back on track today. Ron is sticking with the theme of backing L.A. and is again rolling with a run-line selection (-109).

Rangers (Perez) vs. Mariners (Hernandez)

Covered by Willie Bee

The Rangers won last night in a close 4-3 decision, but will they get the job done against Felix Hernandez this afternoon? You may actually be surprised by the fact King Felix has been pretty terrible (0-3, 5.55 ERA) against Texas in four meetings this season.

For the visitors, Martin Perez gets the start. He's been very reliable since getting tagged for seven runs by Cleveland in late July, allowing four or fewer earned runs in five consecutive appearances. Willie has been perfect with his MLB picks so far in this series and today he's taking Texas at a price of +124.

Phillies (Hamels) vs. Mets (Matsuzaka)

Covered by Joe Freda

Credit Cole Hamels for not giving in and fixing whatever was going wrong. The southpaw has been getting better each and every month – after posting a 3.94 ERA in June, he had a 2.57 ERA in July and has gone 1-0 with a 1.89 ERA in five August outings.

Tonight he faces the Mets for the fourth time this season, having gone 1-2 with a 4.76 ERA so far. On the other side, Daisuke Matsuzaka starts for New York and he was absolutely bombed in his season debut last week. Joe's looking for a lot of runs in this MLB betting spot by taking the OVER 7.5.

Orioles (Norris) vs. Red Sox (Lackey)

Covered by Ron Patrick

The Red Sox won big last night for their third straight victory. They still hold a 2.5-game cushion in the AL East as they prepare for another battle with the Orioles.

Checking over the daily baseball odds, we find Boston at -150, with Baltimore at anywhere from +135 to +145.

Athletics (Straily) vs. Tigers (Fister)

Covered by Joe Freda

After sweeping the Mets in New York, the Tigers have come back home only to lose two in a row to Oakland. Will they fall again tonight to Dan Straily and company?

Doug Fister has been performing well at home throughout the season and that Detroit offense can explode on any given day, so the home team is still heavy chalk here at -170. Is it worth laying the heavy price, or will Joe Freda decide to look elsewhere with his MLB picks?

Cubs (Jackson) vs. Dodgers (Nolasco)

Covered by Ron Patrick

It should be quite difficult for Ricky Nolasco to top his latest start, in which he limited the Red Sox to two hits over eight innings of shutout ball.

The Dodgers will try to made life hard on Edwin Jackson and the odds are as lopsided as you might imagine – L.A. has opened as a -230 favorite at a majority of the sportsbooks.

Rangers (Perez) vs. Mariners (Hernandez)

Covered by Willie Bee

In spite of his stellar overall numbers this season, Felix Hernandez has really struggled against the Rangers, going 0-3 with a 5.55 ERA in four appearances against them.

Should MLB bettors expect that change this afternoon? Seattle will come in as -135 chalk, while you can find Martin Perez and Texas at +125 to win.

Phillies (Hamels) vs. Mets (Matsuzaka)

Covered by Joe Freda

Welcome back to the big leagues, Dice K. The Tigers battered the Japanese righty in his return to the show, but he gets a much easier matchup this time around against the Phillies.

That being said, Cole Hamels has been getting better and better as the season has progressed, so it's Philadelphia (-155) that will enter as the favorites.
