How are the baseball odds shaping up for Wednesday? Should you adjust your MLB picks?

Yankees (Pettitte) vs. Rangers (Garza)

Covered by Ron Patrick

A Joe Nathan blown save led to a come-from-behind victory for the Yankees last night. It was a much-needed win considering New York had been handed some hard-luck losses prior and was continuing to fall further and further behind in the playoff race.

Let's see if that win has any effect on the Yankees' bats up against new Texas boy Matt Garza, who makes his team debut tonight. The Rangers are favored in and around the -170 area, a price Ron isn't willing to take on, so he's going to take a chance by backing the home team on the run-line instead.

Rays (Price) vs. Red Sox (Doubront)

Covered by Willie Bee & Jeff Grant

Two lefties in David Price and Felix Doubront will be on the mound tonight. Neither of these guys' overall numbers scream dominance, but both have been pitching much better as of late, meaning we could be hard-pressed to get a lot of runs on the board here.

After Willie's successful recommendation in game two, he's going down the same path tonight, picking the UNDER 8.5 runs. Jeff Grant meanwhile will be going with the short price on Price and the Rays at -110 in the MLB odds.

Reds (Leake) vs. Giants (Gaudin)

Covered by Joe Freda

The Giants were able to recover in the nightcap, leading to a split in yesterday's double-header. Tonight we've got a great pitching duel on our hands, with Chad Gaudin hoping to add another win to his 4-1 record against Mike Leake and the Reds.

In Joe's estimation, it's hard to pinpoint a weak spot in the moneyline odds, so he's opted for a play on the UNDER 7.5 runs. It's difficult to find something wrong with such a pick, given what Gaudin and Leake have been doing out on the hill lately.

Athletics (Griffin) vs. Astros (Norris)

Covered by Willie Bee

Bud Norris, still the subject of trade rumors, will try to do much better after a rough outing his last time on the mound. He'll need to be at his best against an Oakland offense that makes pitchers work for each and every out. The Athletics meanwhile will have A.J. Griffin pitching.

As you may know, Willie has been trying out a “Fade the Astros” campaign, and he's going to make another play in support of that angle. Not only does Willie believe Oakland will win, he likes the OVER 8 runs even more as one of his sports picks for the day.

Marlins (Turner) vs. Rockies (De La Rosa)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Though the Marlins are 37-61 overall and 16-34 out on the road this season, they've won two straight at Coors and will be aiming to add more misery to the Colorado camp with a win against Jorge De La Rosa today.

The way Jacob Turner's been pitching, Miami should have a good chance of at least keeping this game close. However, Jeff feels the value is still on the home team here and is selecting a Rockies play on the first five innings, available at -160 at the sportsbooks.

24th July
Morning Odds

By: Steven Suarez

The Angels are the biggest favorites in what's another full day of baseball action.

Yankees (Pettitte) vs. Rangers (Garza)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Matt Garza makes his Rangers debut against the Yankees tonight, with New York calling on Andy Pettitte, who's gone 7-7 with a 4.47 ERA so far this season.

It's going to be interesting to see how Garza fares with his new team, but oddsmakers are backing him and his teammates up, posting Texas as -160 favorites on the MLB odds board.

Rays (Price) vs. Red Sox (Doubront)

Covered by Willie Bee

Though David Price labored through his last start against Toronto, he's looked very sharp since returning from the DL. Can he stymy the Red Sox bats tonight, or are the Sox the team to back with our MLB picks?

The game will be televised nation-wide on ESPN, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 PM EST. Price and the Rays are favored at -118 over Felix Doubtront and the Red Sox.

Reds (Leake) vs. Giants (Gaudin)

Covered by Joe Freda

Don't expect much offense when Chad Gaudin (4-1, 2.15 ERA) and Mike Leake (9-4, 2.79 ERA) take the mound in tonight's late game at AT&T Park.

It should be a very tight matchup either way, and the sports betting odds back that statement up. San Francisco was at -102 and Cincinnati was at -108 at time of writing.

Athletics (Griffin) vs. Astros (Norris)

Covered by Willie Bee

One of the afternoon games features Bud Norris and the Astros trying to improve on their 17-36 home record against A.J. Griffin and the Athletics.

Norris has been roughed up for 13 earned runs over his previous two starts, part of the reason why Oakland is a -155 favorite at the sportsbooks.

Marlins (Turner) vs. Rockies (De La Rosa)

Covered by Jeff Grant

The Marlins must be thrilled with what they're getting out of Jacob Turner this season. He's gone 3-2 with a 2.44 ERA and 1.17 WHIP thus far.

We're looking forward to seeing how he does at Coors Field against a Colorado club that trots out Carlos Gonzalez, Troy Tulowtizki, and Michael Cuddyer in the three-through-five spots. The Rockies are favored at -165 as of now.
