New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles

Sagging Yanks versus Upbeat O’s
The Orioles and Yankees will play their second of a three games series on Wednesday. The opening pitch at Camden Yards in Baltimore is slated for 7:05 PM ET. Current MLB odds at GTBets has Baltimore as a -124 money line favorite. Baltimore won the series opener on Tuesday by a score of 4-1. The Orioles are now 15-4 at home versus their AL East Division rival since 2014.

Starting Pitchers
Veteran southpaw C.C. Sabathia will be the Yankees starting pitcher today. Sabathia has displayed poor form over his last three starts, posting a lofty 5.28 ERA and 1.83 WHIP during those outings. Since 2013, Sabathia has made five starts at Camden Years, compiled an uninspiring 5.29 ERA, and the Yankees went 1-4 during those games. Sabathia was 0-3 during his team starts versus Baltimore a season ago with a 4.86 ERA.

Baltimore will go with right-hander Tyler Wilson on the mound today. This will be only his third start of 2016, and he showed good form in his first two by posting a stellar 1.14 WHIP. This will be Wilson’s first career start versus the Yankees.

The Yankees bullpen staff has been terrible during their first twelve road games of 2016, posting a terrible 5.97 ERA, and they’ve allowed an alarming 7 home runs in just 31 2/3 innings of work. On a positive note, Yankee relievers have converted on all 8 of their save opportunities this season.

The Baltimore bullpen has been outstanding thus far in 2016, compiling an excellent 2.18 ERA as a staff. On a negative note, they’ve converted on just 57% of their fourteen save opportunities.

Yankees Bats on Mute
The Yankees enter today on a six game losing streak, and they’ve scored 2 runs or less on five of those occasions. As a matter of fact, during twelve road games in 2016, they’re averaging a paltry 2.6 runs scored per outing, possess a meager .220 team batting average, and have a horrible .600 OPS. With those types of anemic offensive numbers, it’s certainly east to see why they’ve gone 3-9 during away games, and that includes a dismal 1-8 in its last nine road outings.

Orioles Enjoy Home Cooking
By virtue their win yesterday, Baltimore has gone a superb 10-3 at home this year. During those thirteen outings they’ve smacked 17 home runs, and have an impressive .815 OPS. Contrarily, they’ve held opponents to only 3.1 runs scored per game, and held them to a .666 OPS.

Final Take and Pick
The Yankees are down and out right now, and Baltimore is pretty much a polar opposite. When all things being considered in direct regards to this matchup, it’s a pretty cheap money line price for the home favorite, and one of my Wednesday MLB picks will be indicative of that assessment.
