NL East action takes center stage as we run over the boatload of free picks that we've come up with for today.
Reds/Cardinals Game 2
Pitching ruled the day yesterday, with Mat Latos and the Reds getting the series-opening 2-1 win. Tonight the Cardinals will try to exact their revenge and get the series to 1-1.
Jaime Garcia has yet to win a game at home this season, but his ERA (1.98) at Busch Stadium speaks for itself. In his one appearance against Cincinnati, he went 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and three runs in a no decision. The Reds will put their faith in 36-year old vet Bronson Arroyo, who's 2-2 with a 4.24 ERA and 1.09 WHIP so far in 2013.
Willie Bee is once again going with the OVER for game two, with the O/U currently at 7.5 runs. Arroyo has shown he can be beat, especially on the road, and Garcia has been inconsistent, so Willie believes we'll see enough runs for the OVER to cash.
Nationals/Braves Game 2
This is the other series we're tracking closely, featuring two of the National League's best. Game one ended in a 3-2 Atlanta win – what are going to see here tonight?
For starters, you couldn't ask for a better pitching matchup. Gio Gonzalez and Tim Hudson are two of the best in the business and will be trying to one up one another tonight. Currently, the line has the Braves favored at -107, while the total is at seven runs.
Willie's following this one as well and it's only a matter of time before he heats up and starts nailing his sports picks. When push comes to shove, he likes the value that comes attached with the Hudson and the Braves at home.
NL West Series Coverage
For game two of Dodgers/Rockies, Ron Patrick is hoping L.A. can bounce back from a terrible showing last night. He's picking a Dodgers win on the run-line, available at +160 at time of writing.
Ron is also covering the Diamondbacks/Giants series. San Francisco won 6-4 in game one yesterday, but tonight he's expecting the series to get evened up and is a fan of the underdog price on the home team in Arizona.
Jeff Grant has posted a play on the Indians/Phillies game and ultimately he believes the MLB betting value is on Philadelphia (-115). With Roy Halladay reverting back to his old form, that seems to be a good number.
Grant has posted another play and it comes in Detroit's home game against Minnesota. Justin Verlander and the Tigers are favored to the tune of -280 and Grant is recommending a play on the favorites in the first five innings, pointing out that we can't really trust Detroit's shaky bullpen right now.
For Joe Catalano's picks of the day, he's going with two underdogs. The first is the Los Angeles Angels on the road against the Oakland Athletics, followed up with a play on the Tampa Bay Rays at +115 against the Kansas City Royals.
Finally there's LT Profits Sports Group, who is looking for the UNDER 8 runs to cash in the New York Yankees' matchup with the Houston Astros.
