I specified that with a Weaver-Garza matchup and a super-high total of 8, yesterday’s Angels- Rangers game would go 'Under' the 8 runs and for most of the game it was a cakewalk. That pick came through as a huge winner. It’s the kind of play that you wait around for most of the summer, waiting to grab it.
Kansas City Royals (51-51) at Minnesota Twins (45-57)
This is a great spot for the Royals as they’ve won 6 straight games, brought their record to an even .500, and are coming off of a day off against the Minnesota Twins. The Twins have won 6 out of their last 10 despite the absence of Joe Mauer, but K.C. is feeling it in a division in which the top 3 teams are on major winning streaks.
Bettors look at a starting pitching matchup of Mike Pelfrey (4-8, 5.15) versus Ervin Santana (6-6, 3.06) and it seems like nothing to write home about.
In fact, both pitchers have been on top of their game. Pelfrey has given up just 6 earned runs which has covered 4 starts (23 2/3 innings) while Santana has allowed 1 run in his last 2 starts which covers 15 1/3 innings.
There’s many ways to go with this game. The 'Under' looks mighty appealing while you can’t ignore the momentum of the surging Royals.
Alex Gordon is coming off of a 2 -run home run in the 12 inning to defeat the White Sox in 12 innings. Look for Gordon to gain some of his confidence back after a walkoff like that. Both teams won’t “wow” the opponent offensively and we’re going to go in 2 directions here.
MLB Picks: Bet the Royals -130 at William Hill
(Both offenses are very weak with no definitive “game changer”. The Twins have also hit the 'Under' in 12 out of their last 16 games.)

Talk about two baseball teams that can’t get out of their own way. The Phillies have lost 8 straight games while the Giants have lost 4 straight games. Both teams look like they’re playing out the string, 2 months early.
The Giants have been a divisional leader throughout the decade, but reside in the basement of the National League West Division with no hope, while the Fightin' Phils have thrown in the towel after attempting to get back into the NL Wild Card hunt.
Zito vs. Lannan
Barry Zito (4-7, 4.92) has been known to throw a gem but has also had a roller coaster of a career. He faces John Lannan (2-4, 4.13) who is coming off of a poor performance against the Cardinals in which he allowed 4 runs and 8 hits in an 11-3 loss.
Zito has been a nightmare as of late. In his last 3 starts, he’s allowed 12 runs in 12 2/3 innings. Zito, by far, still has the better resume. Can he come up with a half-decent performance against a team that’s lost 8 straight, missing Ryan Howard, and just has nothing left in the tank?
I’m looking at reasons to add the underdog Giants to my MLB picks, and their offense has some appeal to it.
Buster Posey (14 HR, 59 RBI, .308), Marco Scutaro (.313), Hunter Pence (14 HR, 51 RBI, 14 SB, and 7 game hitting streak), and Pablo Sandoval (9 HR, 49 RBI, .270) are all capable of coming through during crucial moments of a game.
Although Sandoval has had a disappointing season, he’s come on strong as of late. In his last 5 games, he’s 7 for 18 with 4 doubles and 5 RBI.
The Phillies are coming off of a 12-4 beating at the hands of the Detroit Tigers in which nobody from the top of the order provided anything offensively.
Giants are 4-1 in their last 5 meetings in Philadelphia.
The price is right in the MLB betting odds; take San Francisco in this battle of two losing teams.
MLB Pick: Take San Francisco +115 at Bet365
Good luck, everyone!
