Tuesday Odds Update

How are things looking in terms of the baseball odds for tonight's full schedule? Let's find out where our cappers are placing their MLB picks.

Rangers (Tepesch) vs. Rays (Hellickson)

Covered by Willie Bee

It'll be Alexi Ogando that starts tonight's crucial game in Tampa Bay, not Nick Tepesch as originally scheduled.

Ogando has been in the bullpen since getting activated and has yet to allow a run since getting called up. He has gone 4-3 with a 3.30 ERA in 13 road appearances this season and won his only start (5.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K) against Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay needs quality innings out of Jeremy Hellickson, that's for sure. Though he's struggled overall, he has done better at home (5-2, 4.52 ERA) and has allowed only three earned runs in two September starts. However, tat's not going to change Willie's mind when it comes to recommending the OVER 8 runs for tonight.

Yankees (Pettitte) vs. Blue Jays (Dickey)

Covered by Ron Patrick

We've got two crafty veterans on the mound tonight and both have been pretty solid for their respective teams lately.

R.A. Dickey has been handed only one losing decision over the last couple of months, but it's safe to say his home form this season has left a lot to be desired. He's gone 6-6 with a 5.29 ERA at Rogers Centre.

Dickey has already faced the Yankees three times in 2013 and has gone 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA. As for Andy Pettitte, he's 6-5 with a 3.55 ERA on the road and has gone a perfect 3-0 with a 1.77 ERA in three assignments against Toronto. The edge seemingly goes to the Yankees here and Ron agrees by backing them at +104.

Indians (Kluber) vs. Royals (Ventura)

Covered by Willie Bee

Exciting young prospect Yordano Ventura will make his first major league start tonight at home against Cleveland.

Ventura went 5-4 with a 3.74 ERA in Triple A this season and struck out 81 batters in 77.0 innings. Let's see how he handles himself on the big stage against a Cleveland team that's hitting .264 over the last seven days.

The Indians will lean on Corey Kluber and that's tended to work out in their favor. He's been a model of consistency lately and has gone 2-0 with a 2.68 ERA in six starts since the All-Star break. Willie was on Cleveland last night and that didn't work out too well, so tonight he's looking for a strong debut from Ventura and backing the home team at -115.

Padres (Stults) vs. Pirates (Locke)

Covered by Ron Patrick

That short-lived stay in the minors seems to have done Jeff Locke a world of good. He's allowed only six hits and three earned runs over 12 innings since coming back to the majors, and he's now 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA on the year.

Meanwhile, Eric Stults has endured a dreadful second half to his season, going 0-6 with a 5.40 ERA since the break. Stults is also a miserable 3-9 with a 4.91 ERA on the road.

Ron was on the money with his pick in game one (UNDER) and tonight he's taking the same route. Both of these offenses aren't having the best of luck getting a lot of runs on the scoreboard, so he feels the safest play is on the UNDER seven runs.

17th Sept
Morning Odds

By: Steven Suarez

Here's the lowdown on the morning MLB odds to help you decipher where the best value can be found for our MLB picks.

Rangers (Tepesch) vs. Rays (Hellickson)

Covered by Willie Bee

Another day, another loss for the Rangers. This is getting really ugly. Though they still own a Wild Card spot thanks to Cleveland's loss, they've dropped seven straight games.

Will Texas be able to get after Jeremy Hellickson? He's certainly had his problems this season, but so too has Nick Tepesch, who's scheduled in as the starter for the Rangers (+130) right now. MLB odds list Tampa Bay at -140 to win.

Yankees (Pettitte) vs. Blue Jays (Dickey)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Like the Rangers, the Yankees are struggling through a bad period right now, though it hasn't been quite as disastrous as they've only lost three in a row. Still, time is running out for New York to make up ground in the playoff race.

Tonight it'll be veterans R.A. Dickey and Andy Pettitte on the hill, with Toronto currently favored at a short price of -110.

Indians (Kluber) vs. Royals (Ventura)

Covered by Willie Bee

The Indians couldn't capitalize on another Texas loss last night, but let's see how they do tonight against Yordano Ventura, who will start in place of Danny Duff.

Corey Kluber, who has allowed two or fewer runs in three straight appearances to see his ERA drop to 3.55, will be taking the bump. However, Ventura and the Royals are trading as favorites in and around the -125 area.

Padres (Stults) vs. Pirates (Locke)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Both Pittsburgh and St. Louis lost yesterday, so it remains dead even atop the division. We're anxious to see if Jeff Locke can continue his recent resurgence at home against the Padres.

San Diego has been playing very good baseball as of late, winning two in a row and seven of their last ten. But, that hasn't affected the baseball odds in their favor, as they're still big-time underdogs at +160, with Pittsburgh at -170.
