Thursday’s MLB betting in the American League has a pair of late openers slated, with the Oakland Athletics hosting the Los Angeles Angels and the Minnesota Twins visiting the Seattle Mariners.

What choices look best for a two-team parlay to end the night with a bankroll boost?

Los Angeles Angels at Oakland Athletics

Athletics right-hander Daniel Straily (6-3, 4.14 ERA) is slated to face Angels southpaw C.J. Wilson (10-6, 3.15 ERA), meeting in a rematch from this past Saturday. Bet365 opened Straily as a 118 home favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at a flat 7 ½.

Saturday’s affair between the rivals saw Wilson and Los Angeles hold on for a 2-0 victory as 142 home ‘chalk.’  Wilson allowed three hits over 8 1/3 innings, while closer Ernesto Frieri finished off the contest for his 24th save.

Straily picked up his first losing decision in 10 starts with the defeat, allowing both of Los Angeles’ runs over seven frames. Oakland’s Jed Lowrie poked a double in a 2-for-4 night, while the duel’s two runs plunged UNDER the ‘total’ of eight.

I am backing the UNDER in Thursday’s rematch, looking for another tight battle on the west coast.

Straily has had stingy numbers at home, holding foes to a 1.01 WHIP and .277 OBP, surrendering just two homers over the span’s 34 2/3 IP. The UNDER has cashed at 5-0 in the righty’s last five outings at Coliseum, while going 7-2 in Oakland’s last nine home spots against clubs with losing records.

Wilson gave up just two runs over 6 1/3 frames in May’s most recent visit to Oakland. Los Angeles has seen the UNDER collect at 5-1-1 in its last seven road games facing a righty starter, with both clubs being in for another pitcher’s duel here.

MLB Pick: UNDER 7 ½ at Bet365

Minnesota Twins at Seattle Mariners

Seattle’s Hisashi Iwakuma (9-4, 2.99 ERA) is scheduled to meet Minnesota’s Kevin Correia (7-6, 4.17 ERA), opening this set with a battle of righties. Early wagers at Bet365 lifted Iwakuma to a price of minus 185, while the ‘total’ currently sits at 7 ½ (UNDER minus 115).

Iwakuma notched a second straight win in Saturday’s 4-2 victory for Seattle over the Houston Astros, lasting seven frames en route to cashing as 130 road ‘chalk.’  Mariners relievers Charlie Furbush and Tom Wilhelmsen allowed no hits over the final two frames, logging a hold and save, respectively.

Correia picked up his first win in five starts on the same night’s card, collecting as a betting odds underdogs at +120 with Minnesota’s 3-2 triumph over the Cleveland Indians. The San Diego native allowed both of Cleveland’s runs over six frames, while closer Glen Perkins anchored four relievers for his 23rd save.

I am adding the UNDER in this matchup to Thursday’s late parlay, making the ticket a pair of low-octane affairs.

Minnesota has seen the UNDER cash at a 5-1 clip in its six games since the All-Star break, held to 3.5 RPG. Ron Gardenhire’s club heads north after a 1-0 defeat in Anaheim as part of Wednesday’s action, managing just two hits against Angels righty Jered Weaver.

Seattle’s last five home spots have had UNDER backers collect at 4-1, with three one-run affairs as part of the span. The UNDER went 4-2 in last year’s six battles at Safeco Field against the Twins, while slated umpire Scott Barry has had the UNDER cash at 6-1-1 in his most recent eight called games.

MLB Pick: UNDER 7 ½ at Bet365
