Because of a smaller MLB slate on the schedule, we've got to make sure we get our baseball betting picks spot. There are four games that we're tackling on Thursday, so come on in and see what our cappers are thinking.

Miami Marlins (Eovaldi) vs. San Francisco Giants (Cain)
Covered by Willie Bee & Jeff Grant
The Marlins finally stopped the bleeding with a much-needed win in their finale against the Dodgers and now they take the short trip to San Francisco to begin a set with the Giants.

Nate Eovaldi gets the start for Miami. He's been enjoying a fine start to his season, going 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA through eight starts. Eovaldi has been unlucky not to get more run support but that can't take away from his excellent performances thus far.

For San Francisco, Matt Cain (0-3, 4.25 ERA) will be looking for his first win of the year. Cain looked good in his only home start so far, throwing seven innings of one-run ball against San Diego.

We have two different picks for tonight's series opener. Willie is expecting a win out of the Giants at home, while Jeff likes the value with the underdog Marlins, despite the fact they're just 4-15 on the road in 2014.

MLB Pick: Willie: Giants -135 // Jeff: Marlins +120

New York Yankees (Whitley) vs. New York Mets (deGrom)
Covered by Jeff Grant
Masahiro Tanaka was terrific yesterday, guiding the Yankees to a win and pushing them over .500 (20-19) once again.

With injuries piling up on the pitching staff though, New York will have to turn to Chase Whitley, who will make his MLB debut tonight. Whitley has looked good in the minors this season, but let's see if he can carry it over to the big leagues.

It's a similar pitching situation for the Mets too, as they'll trot out Jacob deGrom. The righty had gone 4-0 with a 2.58 ERA in seven minor league starts in 2014 and New York would love to get that kind of effectiveness tonight.

As for tonight's MLB picks, Jeff is taking the Mets to win as the short favorites, a victory that would see them improve to .500 on the season.

MLB Pick: Mets -101

Baltimore Orioles (Chen) vs. Kansas City Royals (Ventura)
Covered by Jeff Grant
Despite losing four games in a row, the Orioles remain atop the AL East by a half-game. They obviously can't afford to lose tonight's game in Kansas City.

The Royals are on a nice roll, having won three in a row to take over the second spot in the AL Central. They'll have Yordano Ventura on the mound and he's been spectacular, recording a 2-2 record with a 2.34 ERA.

Baltimore has Wei-Yin Chen ready to roll. Chen has allowed exactly two earned runs in three consecutive starts, which has dropped his ERA from 4.91 to 3.95.

Regardless, Jeff forecasts another win for Kansas City and doesn't mind taking on a small amount of chalk. The Royals have more momentum at the moment and Ventura has been pitching lights out throughout the year.

MLB Pick: Royals -130

Tampa Bay Rays (Bedard) vs. Los Angeles Angels (Skaggs)
Covered by Joe Catalano
Last but not least, we had to Los Angeles where the Angels will play host to the Rays. Both teams have won two straight games heading into tonight.

Tyler Skaggs (3-1, 4.14 ERA) has been solid for Los Angeles so far, as has Erik Bedard for the Rays, who's 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA.

Skaggs was terrific in his latest start, going eight strong innings in a road win over Toronto. As for Bedard, he's allowed one or less earned runs in three consecutive appearances after a very rocky start to his season.

The Angels may be just 8-10 at home, but the Rays have been disappointing overall (they're dwelling in last place in the AL East) and Joe believes we should therefore take the home team with our sports picks.

MLB Pick: Angels -142
