Today starts off with some early games, followed by six matchups tonight. We've examined all of the listed MLB odds and have come up with our favorite MLB picks on the board for Thursday.

Pittsburgh Pirates (Cole) vs. Chicago Cubs (Wood)
Covered by Ron Patrick
The Cubs hung on late for a 7-5 win yesterday and hope that will be the start of a winning run. For today's early game, Chicago will put the ball in Travis Wood's glove, with Pittsburgh leaning on Gerrit Cole.

Cole allowed only three hits and two runs in seven innings in his first start, while Wood gave up six hits and three runs in 6 and 1/3 innings against Philadelphia six days ago. The MLB odds have Chicago as the home underdog here and Ron thinks the Pirates are worth laying the chalk for.

Pick: Pirates -127

Boston Red Sox (Buchholz) vs. New York Yankees (Pineda)
Covered by Willie Bee & Jeff Grant
We're only a matter of weeks into the season and we've already come to a showdown between the Yankees and Red Sox. New York will be the hosts for this four-game series which will last through Sunday night.

The Yankees, who have Michael Pineda on the mound, have to like their chances against Clay Buchholz, who was absolutely awful in his first start of the season. He surrendered 13 hits and six runs in a loss to Milwaukee. We have two different MLB picks for tonight, with Willie on Boston and Jeff going with New York.

Picks: Willie Bee: Red Sox +100 // Jeff Grant: Yankees -110

Milwaukee Brewers (Estrada) vs. Philadelphia Phillies (Lee)
Covered by Jeff Grant
Few could have predicted to see such a hot start for the Brewers. They've won six of their first eight and are a perfect 5-0 away from home so far. Can they keep it up against Cliff Lee and the Phillies this evening?

Lee has won both of his first two starts, but he hasn't exactly been dominant. Let's see if he can out-pitch Marco Estrado, who did well (5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 6 K) against Boston in his season debut. Jeff, however, sees value in taking the OVER in this situation and is looking for offense to win out.

Pick: OVER 7.5

New York Mets (Mejia) vs. Atlanta Braves (Hale)
Covered by Jeff Grant
The Braves had to be thrilled with what they got out of David Hale, who's stepped up into the rotation because of all of the various injuries the team have had to deal with. He tossed five innings of scoreless ball in Washington six days ago.

Tonight he'll make his first start at home, with Jenrry Mejia getting the call for the Mets. Mejia also did well in his first outing, yet Jeff thinks Atlanta is still the way to go with our MLB picks. He's looking for another strong showing from Hale.

Pick: Braves -140

Arizona Diamondbacks (Delgado) vs. San Francisco Giants (Vogelsong)
Covered by Matthew Jordan
Arizona's bats woke up in yesterday's 7-3 win over Tim Lincecum and the Giants. They'll try to inflict similar damage against Ryan Vogelsong, who lasted only four innings (7 H, 4 ER) against the Dodgers in his first appearance.

Even though Randall Delgado has struggled immensely to open the year, Matthew is still recommending that readers roll with Arizona as small underdogs. He's also of the belief the OVER will cash at the sportsbooks.

Pick: Diamondbacks +120 and OVER 7.5
