Afternoon MLB Odds Update
Get ready for another full night of baseball action. It's time to check in and run over the MLB odds one last time.
The Rangers righted the ship yesterday by holding on to beat Boston 3-2. Tonight's game should be every bit as competitive, considering we've got two top-notch pitchers in Jon Lester and Derek Holland on the hill.
Everyone knows these two offenses can explode on any given night, but the O/U for tonight is at 8.5 runs and that seems rather high given the pitching matchup. Holland has been fantastic against the Red Sox throughout his career, so Joe Catalano is banking on the UNDER to cash at the MLB betting shops.
Diamondbacks (Kennedy) vs. Cardinals (Miller)
If you've been following Willie Bee's picks for this series, you've been making yourself quite a bit of coin. He's been on on the money with each selection in the first three games and will go for the clean sweep tonight.
For the series finale, Willie is thinking this is the game where the Cardinals get back on track. Shelby Miller has been phenomenal this season, especially at home, so he's taking a gamble and siding with St. Louis on the run-line.
We've got the start of a new series tonight in Los Angeles. The Braves and Dodgers meet up for what should be a battle, especially here in the opener with Zack Greinke and Tim Hudson on the mound. The MLB odds are pretty much even.
Because neither pitcher has been too dominant lately, Ron Patrick is taking a different approach with his MLB picks. He's backing the Braves, as they have the superior offense and also have a far better bullpen. It's hard to disagree with that line of thinking.
Another new series begins out west tonight, with the Mariners and Yankees set to get underway at Safeco Field. Coming in, New York is favored at -125 at the sportsbooks and Seattle is listed at +115. The total is at 7.5 runs.
With his final prediction, Willie Bee is selecting the OVER 7.5 runs. These two offenses are hardly unstoppable, but the two starters tonight have been far too inconsistent to consider a play on the UNDER. Will Aaron Harang and Phil Hughes be surrendering enough runs for the OVER to hit?
Yesterday the Mets jumped all over Dan Haren from the beginning and didn't look back in their convincing victory. We'd be surprised if they're able to get themselves into a lot of scoring opportunities against Gio Gonzalez.
Gonzalez has been strong at home for the most part, while Shaun Marcum has seen his last four starts fall below the posted total. Put it all together and you can see why Joe Freda is fancying the UNDER 7 runs with his sports picks.

Morning MLB Odds Report
Today's two early games will be Detroit/Tampa Bay and Houston/Baltimore. Though the MLB odds hadn'tbeen made public for the Astros game, you can expect the Orioles to be favored in spite of the fact they're on the road.
As for the other afternoon matchup, the Tigers are huge favorites (-182) at home against Roberto Hernandez and the Rays.
Rangers (Holland) vs. Red Sox (Lester)
The Rangers returned the favor last night after getting demolished the day before. We've got quite the pitching matchup for tonight's encounter at Fenway, with Derek Holland (5-2, 2.81 ERA) and Jon Lester (6-2, 3.53 ERA) starting opposite one another.
Holland is coming off one heck of a month in which he went 4-0 with a 2.31 ERA. He'll be tested against Boston, though he did pitch eight scoreless in a win against them earlier in the season. Tonight we find Holland and the Rangers listed as +133 underdogs.
Diamondbacks (Kennedy) vs. Cardinals (Miller)
Arizona is mashing the ball right now, as evident by their 10-3 win over St. Louis yesterday. The Diamondbacks entered as +125 underdogs but a Paul Goldschmidt grand-slam made all the difference in the top of the seventh.
The Cardinals are now in danger of losing the series 3-1 if they can't take care of Arizona tonight. Pitching favors St. Louis, as Shelby Miller (6-3, 1.82 ERA) has been pitching at a high level pertty much all season. What kind of MLB picks will Joe Freda be making? Find out shortly.
Braves (Hudson) vs. Dodgers (Greinke)
What a performance out of Julio Teheran yesterday. He was nearly unhittable throughout and was the catalyst in Atlanta's 5-0 win over Pittsburgh. The Braves, however, now have to head out of Atlanta, where they've gone an excellent 21-7.
On the road, the Braves have gone a much more pedestrian 16-15. Tim Hudson has been brutal outside of the comfortable confines of Turner Field to boot, going 1-4 with a 7.67 ERA in six road assignments. Still, Atlanta is a small favorite (-104) for our sports picks here this morning.
Yankees (Hughes) vs. Mariners (Harang)
The Yankees looked very good against the Indians and will be hoping for a positive start to their series at Safeco Field tonight. So far this season New York has gone 15-12 overall, while Seattle is a solid 15-13 at home.
It's hard to see any kind of edge in the pitching matchup. Phil Hughes (2-4, 5.37 ERA) continues to be extremely inconsistent and Aaron Harang (2-5, 5.82 ERA) has struggled overall despite looking far more efficient in his latest two starts. Willie Bee will have his forecast for this game in a few short hours, with the Yankees currently posted up as -124 favorites.
Mets (Marcum) vs. Nationals (Gonzalez)
New York's dominant win last night resulted in Washington falling behind Philadelphia in the NL East standings. The Mets have looked much improved lately, winning six of their previous ten games coming into tonight.
We're eager to see if they can post similar offensive numbers against the likes of Gio Gonzalez, who's 3-3 with a 3.64 ERA and 1.19 WHIP on the year. Shaun Marcum has still yet to pick up awe inning decision for New York this season, so that's why the road team is at +177 right now.
