Here's the lowdown on the MLB odds and picks for Independence Day. Are you on the right side?

Cardinals (Wainwright) vs. Angels (Blanton)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Yes Joe Blanton has been performing better recently, but he's still no match for Adam Wainwright, who's compiled a 8-1 record with a 2.50 ERA in 10 road starts this season.

With St. Louis winning almost all of their games when favored on the road with Wainwright on the hill, Jeff is picking the Cardinals for the first five innings of tonight's game at about -135.

Dodgers (Capuano) vs. Rockies (Chacin)

Covered by Jeff Grant

though his overall numbers (2-5, 4.72 ERA) are nothing to write home about, Chris Capuano has been excellent on the road, going 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA in six starts.

That said, Jhoulys Chacin has won four straight decisions and Jeff has decided that this is a pretty intriguing price on the Rockies (-120) at home. He's backing Colorado.

Tigers (Verlander) vs. Blue Jays (Rogers)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Some were expecting Max Scherzer to finally have a letdown, but even though he wasn't quite as dominant, he still did enough to lead the Tigers to another victory yesterday.

Detroit's bats are starting to wake back up, but Ron thinks the UNDER is the play for today, as Justin Verlander is unhittable when on his game and Esmil Rogers has been a pleasant surprise for Toronto.

Mariners (Iwakuma) vs. Rangers (Perez)

Covered by Joe Freda

How about this? The Rangers are in danger of being swept at home by the Mariners, who enter this finale with a 16-25 road record for the season. Meanwhile, Texas is 24-18 at home.

You'd have to think Seattle has a great chance of succeeding in bringing out the brooms, considering Hisashi Iwakuma is 7-3 with a 2.42 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 2013. Nonetheless, Joe is on Texas (-134) tonight.

Padres (Stults) vs. Red Sox (Webster)

Covered by Willie Bee

A walkoff win kept the good times rolling for the Red Sox – can they score another win with Allen Webster on the mound? He's opposed by San Diego's Eric Stults, with Boston favored at -160.

We find one of the highest totals on the MLB odds board here on July 4th, with sportsbooks posting 10.5 for the taking. Willie has noticed that offense has been hard to come by in this series, so he's going with the UNDER.

Phillies (Hamels) vs. Pirates (Cole)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Ron was wise to take the money-line in Pittsburgh's win yesterday, as they barely hold on to a 6-5 victory after allowing a two-run blast in the top of the ninth.

What kind of MLB pick does Ron have for today? He actually sees some value on the Phillies with Cole Hamels pitching against rookie Gerrit Cole. Philadelphia is currently trading at approximately +120.

Orioles (Britton) vs. White Sox (Quintana)

Covered by Willie Bee

A nice Orioles debut from Scott Feldman helped keep Baltimore in the game yesterday, and they eventually went on to win 4-2. Today Baltimore is a small favorite again at about -107.

A total play is in order here for Willie Bee though and it's going to come on the OVER. Of course it's risky selecting an OVER involving the anemic White Sox, but Baltimore's offense is legit and could drop nine runs by themselves.

Marlins (Alvarez) vs. Braves (Teheran)

Covered by Joe Freda

Henderson Alvarez makes his season debut today against Julio Teheran and the Braves. Teheran has gone 6-4 with a 3.12 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 15 starts so far this year.

This series has been filled with huge chalk in favor of Atlanta and this evening's game is no different. Atlanta is a -240 favorite at a lot of the top sportsbooks, so Joe is going to stay away and roll with the UNDER 7.5 runs instead.
