Here's the updated look at the baseball odds for today.

A rare off day for a lot of ball clubs means we only have seven games to examine on Thursday. Our handicappers have broken down a majority of these matchups and have finalized their MLB Picks for the day.

Tigers (Scherzer) vs. Indians (McAllister)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Not only does Max Scherzer lead the majors in wins (16), his ERA has crept under 3.00 now after hurling 7 and 2/3 innings of shutout ball against the White Sox five days ago. Scherzer is also holding an impressive 2.21 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 73.1 IP on the road this season.

Cleveland will turn to Zach McAllister, who's 4-6 with a 3.47 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. The right-hander has gone 3-2 with a 2.82 ERA in seven home starts and gave up only two runs in his last start against Detroit.

Nonetheless, the Tigers are playing as well as anyone right now and Jeff thinks they're still worth the investment at roughly -150.

Brewers (Hand) vs. Giants (Lincecum)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Since getting tormented for nine hits and eight runs against Cincinnati, Tim Lincecum has come back to post two solid starts in a row, allowing three earned runs and striking out 15 batters in 14.0 innings of work. Lincecum is now 5-11 on the year with a 4.43 ERA.

The Brewers, who struck late last night against Madison Bumgarner and company, will have Donovan Hand (0-3, 3.60 ERA) taking the bump.

With his sports picks throughout this series, San Francisco has been Ron's preferred play. Nothing changes this afternoon, as he'll be adding the Giants on the run-line (+145) because of Lincecum's improved performance of late.

Dodgers (Ryu) vs. Cardinals (Martinez)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Because Jake Westbrook pitched last night, someone was needed to step into the rotation for tonight's game. The Cardinals decided to promote Carlos Martinez from the minors, where he was 4-2 with a 1.67 ERA in 10 starts.

Martinez is going to have to be sharp, considering the Cardinals may find it hard to get a lot of run-scoring opportunities against Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ryu, however, has a 4.52 ERA on the road as opposed to a 1.83 ERA at Dodger Stadium.

What's our recommendation for tonight's game at Busch? Jeff has looked at every angle and feels as if the ‘Over’ 8 runs may be the best course of action.

Red Sox (Lester) vs. Royals (Chen)

Covered by Joe Freda

Jon Lester is still unbeaten at home, but away from Boston he's gone 6-6 with a 5.14 ERA, hardly numbers worth writing home about. Lester gave up 11 hits and six earned runs in 4 and 1/3 innings six days ago against Arizona and will try to bounce back tonight.

For Kansas City, Bruce Chen gets the call to start. Chen has allowed two or fewer earned runs in four straight starts, while allowing just 11 total hits in that span as well.

In the end, Joe thinks both pitchers will do enough to help see the game's total finish ‘Under’ 8.5 runs. For those interested in a money line play, the Red Sox are currently favored at -120.

Tigers (Scherzer) vs. Indians (McAllister)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Though a lot of focus remains on Atlanta and their winning streak, we can't look over the Tigers, who have won 11 straight games coming into tonight.

There's a good chance that will become 12 after everything's said and done, with Max Scherzer and Detroit listed at -145.

Brewers (Hand) vs. Giants (Lincecum)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Tim Lincecum may have a no-hitter to his name this season, but the fact remains he's just 3-5 with a 4.78 ERA at home in 2013.

Even so, the Brewers have been brutal on the road, so San Francisco has still been installed at a sizable -175 line. The O/U is at an even seven runs.

Dodgers (Ryu) vs. Cardinals (TBD)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Since Jake Westbrook had to step in and take over for the injured Shelby Miller yesterday, he won't be starting tonight against the Dodgers.

With Westbrook penciled in as the starter, the Cardinals were favored at -110, but obviously those MLB odds are going to change because of the switch.

Red Sox (Lester) vs. Royals (Chen)

Covered by Joe Freda

The Red Sox put up a three-spot in the top of the ninth to win 6-5 last night. They'll have Jon Lester on the mound in their opener against the Royals.

Thing is, veteran Bruce Chen has been excellent as a starter for Kansas City this season. He's 4-0 with a 2.03 ERA and 1.09 WHIP,  explaining why the Royals aren't even bigger underdogs against a better Boston ballclub.
