We're coming off of a big 2-0,+3.00 Units day after a slow start to the MLB season. Slow starts are expected as we need to get acclimated to the new season, but won't last long. Watch as I provide you a couple of winning picks as momentum is on our side and we look to get into the plus column.

Considering some near missses, I will gladly take being under minus 2 units for the season as the season has just begun and this is a 162 game grind. This is a long process; a process in which I intend to dominate like last season.

Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees
Bad Call Changes Complexion of the Game

If any of you saw yesterday's Astros vs Yankees game, it was the Yankees who played better for most of the time. Masahiro Tanaka outpitched Dallas Keuchel until Carlos Correa drilled his first home run of the season into the right-centerfield stands. Manager, Joe Girardi, has a strict pitch count and Tanaka got the hook.

In came Delen Betences and we're not used to seeing the 6 foot 8 pitcher struggle, but he did, and one play in which Carlos Correa ran to first base on the grass and blocked Betences' ability to throw the baseball to first base, changed the complexion of the game.

The umpires knew that they made a poor call, but there was nothing that could be done as there's no instant replay for a play like that. From there, Betences became unraveled, pitching 30 pitches in the entire inning and the Astros capitalizing on every mistake.

Now, the Yankees must face 19 game winner, Colin McHugh and that will be a tall order as McHugh somewhat flew under the radar last year to have a monster season.

From watching the Yankees offense, you can tell that they're going to have a rough time of it this year. Management didn't want to open up their pocket book in the off-season and they're going to suffer for it on the MLB odds boards. One move that they did move payed immediate dividends as Starlin Castro hit a home run in his first Yankee game.

Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve
With a combination such as this leading your team, aside from elite pitching, you're not going to go wrong. Correa is quickly establishing himself as a budding star in this league as he looks to improve upon a 22 HR, 68 RBI, .279 BA ,and 14 SB rookie campaign. I expect Correa to blow past these numbers as people have labeled him a young Alex Rodriguez.

As for Altuve, you saw it yesterday. He does it all. Hitting for power might be the only thing from preventing him from being a 5-tool player, but this guy is a producer and once he get's on the basepaths, it's almost an immediate run due to his ability to swipe bags.

Yesterday, Altuve made an immediate impact on the game with 2 runs, a double, and a stolen base. For the Yankees to have any chance in this gameto be the MLB pick, they must start hitting the baseball and stopping Jose Altuve from doing damage.

The Yankees do have a cluster of hitters that can do the job in Jacoby Ellsbury, Mark Teixiera, Alex Rodriguez, and Brian McCann. These are all overpriced veterans and just from a fan's perspective, you can see why the Astros are the better baseball team. Even though I've raved about the Astros, look for New York to get revenge tonight with a victory.

Chicago White Sox vs. Oakland Athletics
Stop the Bleeding
Good pitching wins games and although the Oakland Athletics have dropped their first two games of the series to the White Sox, Sonny Gray get's the start and this is a pitcher with great talent. In just 3 seasons, Gray has a 33-20 mark with a 2.88 ERA. Imagine if he pitched on a good team that provided run support.

Jimmy Rolllins?
The White Sox are coming off of 2- 1 run victories and you take them any way that you can get them. The A's know that that they're unlucky when Jimmy Rollins, who is way past his prime, hits a home run in the 9th inning to propel the White Sox past the Atheletics, 5-4 last night.

Where Will the Offense Come From?
The Athletics are filled with a bunch of blue collar players such as Billy Butler, Jed Lowrie (4 RBI, .375 BA), Josh Reddick, and Stephen Vogt. Simply stated, this is an ugly lineup and will need to cash in on any opportunity as they have Sonny Gray backing them.

"Eaton" Up the Opposition
We all know that Jose Abreu (3 for 8) is the star of this team, but in just 2 games, Adam Eaton is outright beasting. Eaton leads the team with a .667 batting average, with 2 runs and an RBI. I expect the production to slow down a bit as Sonny Gray will put a stop to the White Sox offense. Oakland is a betting favorite for a reason and that's because of Gray pitching.
