There were lots of rain outs yesterday, lots of playoffs series have been decided, & a divisional winner. Let's see how that all comes into play when we provide our picks for Saturday.

Wasahington Nationals vs. New York Mets: A Meaningless Game
This game is considered a meaningless game except for best record in the National League. The entire game is dependant upon what lineup that Mets manager, Terry Collins, puts out as he really doesn't want anyone to get injured.

Where Washington is concerned, their normal lineup will be out there with Max Scherzer (13-12, 2.91) starting against Matt Harvey (13-7, 2.80). We all know that Matt Harvey is on an innings limit and has to be preserved for the playoffs. How this will come into play in this game is the main question at hand.

In the Mets last game, the manager threw out a bunch of bench players and no-namers and Jerad Eickhoff took advantage of it as he threw 7 scoreless innings while striking out 10 batters.

New York was not threat to the Phillies Kirk Nieuwenheis was responsible for 3 out of their 4 hits. The only way that the Mets can handle Max Scherzer and the Nats in this game is if Matt Harvey is nearly perfect.

I have no doubt that Harvey can shut the Nats down as Washington has nothing to play for, but the Mets offense with guys like Juan Lagraes and Ruben Tejada need to get on base and score some runs. I have very little confidence in that happening. Just the same, check your starting lineups before the game starts, but I'm really leaning towards all of the Mets bench players playing. Washington is the play here and the MLB betting odds are superb!

San Diego Padres vs. Los Angeles Dodgers: What Can Greinke Do?
I really think that Jake Arrieta has stolen the National League CY Young Award away from Greinke as Arrieta has been perfect the last few months of the season and leads the majors with 22 wins. The only thing in Greinke's favor is that he was a major contributor as the Dodgers won the National League West Division. The question is "How many innings will manager, Don Mattingly, pitch Greinke?" I don't think that Greinke will be overused unless he has a no-hitter going. Expect Zack Greinke to provide his best in the innings which are provided to him against a much inferior ball club in the underachieving San Diego Padres.

Matt Kemp
This is a player that will be coming back to Dodger Stadium, a stadium where he was the man until he got a quad injury a few seasons back, and hasn't been the same.

One thing that Matt Kemp can be given credit for is that he started off this season very slowly and has still managed a 100 runs batted in season. That's little consolation for Kemp as he watches his old team go to the playoffs and he will be going home.

I look for Matt Kemp to come out like a ball of fire with something to prove. With Justin Upton totally falling off the map and possessing a .251 batting average, someone has to provide offense for the Padres and Kemp has 23 HR, 100 RBI, and a .265 BA. He would definitely like to finish off the season strong.

Kemp hasn't had a ton of success against Greinke, but he's hitting .328 with 1 HR and 8 RBI against the Dodgers and I think that we'll see the Dodgers bullpen play a major role again. Once again, I'm going with the underdog instead of the division winner, who will be looking to keep their players fresh.

MLB Pick- San Diego Padres +230 at 5Dimes.
