Teams are making late season tranasactions and getting down to business as we've hit the month of September and it's crunchtime in the MLB. See who we like as our betting picks.

San Francisco Giants vs. LA DodgersThe Clash of the NL West Division
Clearly, these two teams are the class of the division and usually are at the top every season. The Giants have owned this division each season and it's been because of their dominant pitching. This season, they have somewhat of a more well-rounded team offensively and defensively.

Where the Dodgers are concerned, it's all about the pitching as they have the best 1-2 punch in the game in Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw. This season, Greinke (14-3, 1.61) has carried this team on his back. Imagine what his statisitics would look like if he had a better offense. I guarantee you that he'd be headed for a 20 win season, but in my opinion and people that really know the sport, ERA is the most important statistic and Greinke leads the Major Leagues. A pitcher such as Nathan Eovaldi can have a better record than Greinke and a 4.00 ERA and not even be in the same league as Greinke. It's all about the ERA.

2 Game Swing
Each game in these matchups have a 2 game swing. Currently, the Dodgers are 4.5 games up on the Giants at 73-57 with 32 games remaining in the season. They're also 45-21 at home. The pressure is totally on the Giants, who have lost 3 games in a row, but you can never count out the defending World Series Champions as they tend to excel during the latter part of the season. I think not having Pablo Sandoval could really hurt San Francisco as he was a dominant post-season player.

Flying Under the Radar
We know how good Greinke is and a matchup against Buster Posey will be an interesting and key matchup in the game. Posey is 7 for his last 11 at bats. He's also batting .321 on the season with 16 HR and 80 RBI.

The one reason why Posey can't be put into that elite group of players such as Mike Trout and Bryce Harper is his power. In his last 10 games, he has just 2 RBI and this is a guy that has a .377 OBP%. He simply doesn't have the ability to chance the complexion of a game with one swing of the bat and the Giants need someone that can do this against Greinke, who has been nearly perfect.

The bettor has to go with the Dodgers here as the MLB odds are too appealing to turn down.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Baltimore Orioles: Playing Themselves Out of the Post Season
This is the case for the O's as they have lost 5 straight games and 9 out of their last 10 games. That said, the Orioles are still the betting favorite in their matchup against the Rays as they start Chris Tillman (9-9, 4.58) against Drew Smyly (1-2, 3.82).

In a short sampling, Smyly has actually played well on the road. In 21 2/3 innings, Smyly has struck out a batter per inning and has an ERA of 3.32. Tillman, on the other hand, has been nothing to write home about with a 5.01 ERA against the American League, allowing opposing hitters to hit .261 off of him, and he's lost his last 2 decisions. People hear the name Tillman and think that the O's have the advantage and that's not the case.

What's Happened to the Orioles?
Their losing streak has come at the wrong time and this is a team with some legitimate hitters in Manny Machado (26 HR, 66 RBI,16 SB, .290 BA), Adam Jones (24 HR, 67 RBI, 279 BA), and Chris Davis (35 HR, 92 RBI, .249 BA). If you match the Orioles offense up to the Rays, they would dominate, but as we see, starting pitchers such as Chris Tillman haven't done much for their record. I'm going to stick with the team's recent play and take the Rays as the underdog.
