The heat has come late as we're almost in August and this is possibly the hottest day of the year. Expect pitchers to be on a short leash & for the baseball to carry. Here are your Picks of the Day.

Joe C. Record 85-49 +40.18 Units

An Unusual Recap
We rode the Yankees one more time with a monster 3 Unit Play and they delivered in a big way again as they won 21-5. Our other pick didn't fare so well as we took a big chalk in Toronto against the Phillies, but the Jays spit the bit and lost 3-2. Nevertheless, we made a profit for the day and continue to win. You know that I'm riding the Yankee train until it loses, what will my other MLB pick be for Wednesday?

New York Yankees vs. Texas Rangers: Tanaka Time!
After a 21-5 thrashing of the Rangers the Yankees send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound and Tanaka (7-3, 3.64) has pitched relatively well for the Yanks after their was a question of him having Tommy John Surgery. If the Yankees can win with Chris Capuano, they surely can win with this Japanese import.

Also, the Yankees are never out of a game despite pitching as their offense is on fire. Tanaka has won 3 straight games and in those games, has allowed 7 earned runs in 22 1/3 innings. The only issue with Tanaka is the longball as he's allowed 5 home runs in his last 2 games.

Returning the Favor
The Texas Rangers probably thought that they had yesterday's game in the bag as they had an early 5-0 lead in the first inning. The Yankees came storming back with 11 runs in the 2nd inning and 4 runs in the 3rd inning and that's all that she wrote. No lead is safe against the Bombers as every hitter in the Yankees lineup had a hit and stats were padded.

Didi Gregorious
Although he's still trying to fill Derek Jeter's cleats at shortstop. Gregorious is finally starting to hit. Yesterday, he was 4 for 5 with 2 runs and 3 runs batted in. His batting average is up to .257 and the Yankees have to be pleased with this type of production. In the last week, Gregorious is batting .522 with 1 HR and 9 RBI. This is a player that the Yankees can have for a long time and nurture. Every button that Joe Girardi pushes, seems to be working as the Yankees are the hottest team in baseball.

MLB Pick- New York Yankees -142 at 5Dimes -3 UNIT PLAY (The Odds are appealing and I'm going to pick the Yankees until they lose. It's been super profitable as my record indicates)

Oakland Athletics vs. Los Angeles DodgersBest Pitcher In the Last Decade
He hasn't even pitched a full decade, but when Clayton Kershaw (8-6 ,2.51) is at his best, nobody is better. In his last game, he embarrassed the New York Mets at CitiField, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 11 batters in a complete game effort.

The Dodgers are a massive MLB odds favorite and I wouldn't touch this game, but being that I'm playing with house money, I'm picking the Dodgers and their weak offense here. A lot of readers may chuckle, but when the game is over, they won't be. Also, my betting strategy has worked thus far and nobody can say otherwise as I'm playing L.A. at nearly 3/1 odds!

In the month of July, Kershaw has pitched 33 innings and has an ERA of 0.27. He has a few bangers on his team in Joc Pederson, Yasiel Puig ,Adrian Gonzalez, and even Jimmy Rollins. I don't need to go any further as this game is all about Kershaw. Look for L.A. to defeat the A's in this All-California matchup.

MLB Pick- Los Angeles Dodgers -290 at 5Dimes
