Baltimore Orioles vs. Philadelphia Phillies

The Worst Team in Baseball?
The Philadelphia Phillies couldn't deal with the grind and their true colors are finally starting to come out as they're riding an 8 game losing streak. The Phillies are coming off of their worst beating of the season and have to face the Baltimore Orioles yet again.

The Orioles defeated the Phillies 19-3 yesterday and are 8-1 in their last 9 games. Manny Machado and Chris Parmalee both clobbered journeyman Jerome Williams as the Orioles had a 12-0 lead by the 3rd inning. MLB odds will be high in the Orioles favor tonight for good reason and I just might take the bait because Philadelphia is just that bad a baseball team.

Hang Up Your Cleats!
Chase Utley was considered a very good baseball player, but the past couple of seasons, he's tarnishing his "legacy". This year especially as he's hitting a mere .183 to go along with 4 HR and 25 RBI.

A player such as this should not be allowed to be in the starting lineup, but this team is so bad, that this is all that they have to offer. Slugger, Ryan Howard, isn't doing too much better at 11 HR, 28 RBI, and a .229 BA. The Phils need to get rid of these veterans and start from scratch or they will be a losing baseball team for a very long time.

Ben Revere leads the Phillies in hitting at .273, but he has absolutely no power with just 16 RBI and 15 SB. You could put Cy Young on the mound and I wouldn't like the Phillies chances against the O's.

All the Orioles have to do is send out a half decent pitcher to the mound and Ubaldo Jimenez (4-3, 3.19) get's the call for the Orioles. Jimenez finally picked up a victory in his last start after 4 consecutive no-decisions. In his last 4 starts, he's allowed 10 runs in 23 innings and that should be enough to dispose of the Phillies.

Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Playing With Fire
The Texas Rangers have taken the first two games from the Dodgers in L.A.as the Dodgers have managed to only score 3 runs. Clayton Kershaw gets the start for the Dodgers and at extreme odds because he's the best pitcher in baseball. I like the Dodgers in this matchup as Kershaw as gotten his act together.

I don't like the run-line as I don't trust the Dodgers anemic offense. The only concern here would be if Kershaw pitched a near perfect game and the Dodgers offense didn't produce a run or two to back it up. I really don't want this game to go to the bullpen unless Los Angeles is in control.

Steadily Declining
Adrian Gonzalez started this season like gangbusters, but his batting averaged is slowly creeping down to .300 as the season progresses. Gonzo is 4 for his last 25, but is still hitting .331 with 7 HR with 22 RBI at home this season. He needs to get his act together because I surely don't want to count on Jimmy Rollins. Everytime I think of the Dodgers, I think of Dee Gordon being on the Marlins and Rollins being on the Dodgers and it makes me sick.

Joc Pederson has done his part for Los Angeles as he currently has 17 HR and 33 RBI on the season. Pederson's batting average might not stand out at .253, but he as a .390 on base % and that certainly makes up for it as opposing pitchers pitch around him.

Back to Kershaw; he's allowed 3 earned runs in his last 4 starts, which accounts for 28 2/3 innings and I'm counting on him in this spot as I'm laying a ton of juice on the best pitcher in baseball.
