NY Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Ivan Nova vs. David Price
The starting pitching matchup could be the deciding factor in tonight's game as David Price has been exactly as advertised since joining the Blue Jays. In 2 starts as a Blue Jay, Price  has allowed just 1 runs and 6 hits in 15 innings while striking out 18 batters.

What I love about David Price is that he can go further into games than any other pitcher in the league. 110 pitches is nothing to David Price where as it would be a struggle to Yankees starter, Ivan Nova (4-4, 3.52) and you don't exactly know what you're going to get from Nova.

On a positive note for the Yankees, Price has a 7.71 ERA against the Yankees this season, but that includes his time with the Tigers, who are having a poor season. Is Price and the Blue Jays a good fade here? New York really needs this game as the Blue Jays swept the Yankees at Yankee Stadium and this series will go a long way where the division is concerned.

11 Game Winning Streak
The Blue Jays are coming off of a sweep of the Oakland Athletics and they picked the right time to get hot. Ever since the Jays acquired Troy Tulowitzki, they have been unstoppable. I've pointed this out before; Ben Revere was at the top of the Philadelphia Phillies lineup as their best player, but in the Blue Jays lineup, he's batting last. That said, Tulo had a day off yesterday and Revere was placed at the top of the lineup and had 2 hits.

Josh Donaldson
Donaldson is the Blue Jay that really gets the credit for their success since joining the Jays at the beginning of the season. He's definitely in the conversation for Amercian League MVP as he's hitting .293 with 31 HR and 85 RBI on the season. The Blue Jays aren't a team with .300 hitters, they're a team with major power that pick up timely hits. With all of that said, I'm taking the Yankees as my MLB pick. To pick New York up at this betting price is a rarity and definitely worth the risk.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. New York Mets

Must Win Situation
The Pittsburgh Pirates have always had a rivalry with the St. Louis Cardinals for the National League Central Division and have let the Cardinals escape with a big lead after their recent series. At 66-46, the Pirates trail the Cards by 6 games and they face a Mets team that dominates at home.

In the confines of CitiField, the Mets are an amazing 42-18. This is a very important game for Pittsburgh as Bartolo Colon (10-11, 4.76) is the weak link in the Mets pitching staff which is the best staff in the league. Andrew McCutchen and the Bucs must take advantage of a good situation tonight and pick up the win.

Slaying the Beast
The Pirates are coming off of a much encouraging 10-5 victory over the Cardinals as Francisco Liriano picked up the victory. In this game, Pedro Alvarez and Neil Walker both had 3 hits and this will need to be a continuing trend as Andrew McCutchen (18 HR, 77 .299 BA) needs support in this lineup.

McCutchen saves a ton of runs in the outfield with his stellar defense and his .399 OBP% has carried the Bucs to 20 games above .500 where the standings are concerned.

Pittsburgh is a well balanced team that gets their power from Alvarez and McCutchen, they also get timely hits from Walker and Polanco, and Jung Ho Kang (9 HR, 40 RBI, .292 BA ) has been a huge edition to the Pirates lineup. Kang is hitting .304 in the month of August.

Although he's had a great performance against Miami, Colon came back with a clunker against Tampa Bay. He's just not a consistent pitcher and this is a great spot with great odds for Pittsburgh.
