The thing that stands out from Tuesday's MLB odds is the high quality of starting pitching. There are several aces taking the rubber tonight. Let's see how this comes into play with our MLB betting picks.

Yesterday was looking like a spectacular day until the Dodgers decided to score some runs, going over the total and turning the day into a wash. We also had the Chicago White Sox with Chris Sale who were facing a great Houston Astros team that's currently involved in a losing streak and the game turned out as we had planned as Chicago gained the lead and never gave it up. It's back to the drawing board as we strive for some profit.
There's a real dilemma here as most of the aces carry a high price and I'm just not willing to lay that amount of juice on these top pitchers as anything can happen. If a Corey Kluber or Sonny Gray doesn't receive an ample amount of run support, the game ends up in the bullpen's hands and that's the last place where we want it to be. There's a time and a place to take big chalk but my gut is telling me that today is a bit risky.
Can Dallas Keuchel Break Houston's Losing Streak?
Keuchel has been a top-flight pitcher that we can actually get a decent price on as he has dominated all season long with a 7-1 record and a 1.85 ERA. Opposing hitters are hitting just .189 against the left-hander. Even though Houston is riding a 5 game losing streak, they still have a 3 game lead in the American League West Division over the surprising Texas Rangers and can't have this streak snowball any further.
The Astros face a White Sox who defeated them yesterday with Chris Sale, but the Sox aren't an overwhelming offensive club; This is still a last place team in their division and their offense doesn't contain any stars except for Jose Abreu who is having a mere average 2 months thus far.
Abreu has been able to knock in runners in scoring position as he possesses 33 runs batted in to go along with 9 dingers, but his .275 BA and .333 OBP% are a bit of a disappointment as the White Sox are expecting MVP-like numbers from the 2nd year player.
The Maturation Process + Key Transactions = Success
Houston has always been known as a low budget team with low priced players. Now, their offense is one of the more imposing offenses in the league as they possess 5 hitters with 8 home runs or more and Jose Altuve has finally reached the .300 mark after a really poor start to the season. When placing your MLB picks, keep in mind that this is very powerful club with the like of Luis Valbuena and Evan Gattis that contains depth. If Keuchel continues to give the "Stros" what he's been giving them all season long, the Astros should be able to break their losing streak tonight as they don't have to worry about Chris Sale tonight.

Pushing My Luck?
When something works for you, in my opinion "you keep going back to the well", so to speak as I've been riding the Yankees bandwagon from Seattle to the Bronx against the Angels and New York has delivered in a major way. This is a team that's winning games with Adam Warren pitching and Mark Texieira is on a 45 home run, 135 RBI pace. New York is currently on a 6 game winning streak and has gotten a lot of road games out of the way.
Scherzer had the faith in himself to not accept a contract from the Tigers and was banking on a big season last year and he got it. This means an even bigger contract as the Nationals snatched him up. Thus far this season, Scherzer (6-4, 1.85) has been a great success despite a poor start to the season and a lack of run support. The only other thing to worry about if backing these MLB odds underdogs is that Scherzer is coming off of a loss after a 5 game winning streak. This will be a real test for New York as Scherzer can pitch over 100 pitches and has a solid offense behind him including the hottest player in baseball in Bryce Harper.
Harper's numbers are off the chart. He leads the Nats 19 HR, 46 RBI, a .326 BA and a .464 OBP % because opposing pitchers don't want to pitch to him. Yankee Stadium is also a left-handed hitter's dream with a short right field porch and it's possible that Harper can have a huge game. While Masahiro Tanaka has had a successful career in the United States, he's been known to give up a gopher ball or two and this is only his 2nd start back from injury.
While everything is telling me "Nationals", momentum and confidence are so important and the Yankees are unstoppable at the moment.
