New York Yankees vs. Atlanta Braves
Right Back to the Well
I have seemed to go away from what made me successful and that's consistently roll with the teams that were on major runs and clearly outclassed their opponent. I want to get back to that theme. As I told you yesterday and won, the Atlanta Braves are an awful baseball. Aside from Freddie Freeman, this team really has no major threats. The only catch in this game is that the Braves starter, Julio Teheran (9-6, 4.25) is always a threat to put up a shutout even though he's not the same pitcher that he once was.
There's a conflict here as Teheran has a 2.55 ERA at home but has a near 10.00 ERA on against the American League. Eighty percent of Teheran's innings have been against the National League therefore, I'm expecting him to give the Yankees a run for their money.
Keeping Up With the Blue Jays
A wild card spot is a given, but the division title would be more desirable for the New York Yankees, who have had the lead in the division for most of the season. They find themselves 1.5 games behind Toronto at 71-57 and as long as Toronto is crushing the baseball, New York needs easy opponents such as the Braves to beat up on.
New York has really missed the combination of Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez as Tex has been injured and Arod is a 40 year old man that's declined a bit as the season has progressed.
Nonetheless, the season has been a major success for Arod. As I was watching the Yankee interview yesterday, Chase Headley made a great point and said that the lower half of the lineup has been coming through lately and it's been the difference for the Yankees between winning and losing. Guys such as Didi Gregorious and Headley have both been coming up big while Brian McCann has went back to Atlanta, his former team, and has played well.
If the other players can cover for Tex and Arod for a bit longer, the Yankees will be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs.Today, they start Nathan Eovaldi (13-2, 4.00) and the record tells it all despite a high ERA. Make the Yankees your MLB pick as they go for the sweep.

Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
A Bunch of Gamers
We go right back to Dodger Stadium for the Sunday Night Baseball Game as yesterday's game left a bad taste in my mouth as I took the Chicago Cubs and losses. Yesterday, Jon Lester was brilliant and then the roof caved in as I watched helplessly in the 7th inning as the Dodgers negated all of Lester's hard work.
Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant weren't able to get key hits and guys like Kike Heranandez were able to come through for the Dodgers with little bloop hits and the Dodgers bullpen put this game away. This was a huge loss for the Cubs as they seek a playoff spot. The Cubs have now lost 4 straight games and start Jake Arrieta (16-6, 2.22) in another favorable pitching matchup for the Cubbies as he faces Alex Wood for the Dodgers. Can the Cubs salvage a very important game is the question?
Arrieta To the Rescue?
I definitely have less faith in guys like Anthony Rizzo after yesterday as he swung at balls hitting the ground, but I definitely have faith in Jake Arrieta. Arrieta's numbers are amazing as he seeks a 20 win season. Arrieta has a 1.94 ERA on the road, has pitched to an amazing 0.54 ERA in the month of August in 33 1/3 innings and has held opponents to a .204 batting average for the season while winning his last 5 straight starts. If the Chicago offense can scratch out a few runs, this game is theirs.
