We have hit the month of August & every game is really starting to have meaning for some playoff contenders. I've picked a couple of games on the slate which provide lots of betting value.

Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets

Flores Has Given New York Momentum
Yes folks, the guy that you saw crying who thought that he was traded for Carlos Gomez and wasn't actually traded, deposited a home run over the out field wall to give the Mets a 2-1 victory in a game started by Matt Harvey. The last guy that you would suspect to be the hero, ended up making a 2 game difference in the standings with his game winning blast..

deGrom is Da Man
The Mets are really starting to put things together. They traded for Yoenis Cespedes in a steal. We have to remember that CitiField is where Cespedes won the home run contest two years back with the biggest blows that we've ever seen there. Aside from Cespedes, the Mets throw their ace, Jacob deGrom at the Nats and there's no team that has 3 top starters such as Harvey, deGrom, and Syndergaard.

To get deGrom (10-6 ,2.05) ,who was born in the same town as Chipper Jones, is very reasonable as he's one of the best 3 pitchers in the MLB. deGrom is coming off of an outstanding performance in which he allowed just 2 hits to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 7 2/3 innings while striking out 8 batters.

In his last 21 2/3 innings, deGrom has allowed just 2 runs and has struck out 26 batters. With all of the new additions to the Mets offense, they've become an instant contender for the World Series title. At -142, New York is the play at home against a Dodgers team that's not a big run produceer besides Mets killer Jimmy Rollins.

New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox

All About the Yankee Bats
I've been riding the New York teams and for good reason. The Mets have the sensational pitching and the Yankees continue to score runs at a rapid pace.

A couple of days ago, the Bombers scored 21 runs and last night, they defeated the White Sox 13-6 on the South Side of Chicago. We look at the MLB betting odds board and notice that the Yankees have a reliever in Bryan Mitchell (2.89 1 Save) starting. That would scare away some bettors but to me, it benefits the Yankee backers, because you're guaranteed to get the Yankees at a great price and the way that Mark Teixeira has been tagging the baseball, it really doesn't matter who starts.

Sending "Tex" Messages
This has been Teixeira's year as people have looked at his batting average for the last couple of seasons and thought that he was less valuable. Let's not forget about Teixeira's glove as he's like a vaccuum cleaner, sucking up Didi Gregorious' poor throws to first base.

The Yankees are at a season high 58-44 and the MVP on this team has been Tex. He's hitting .269 on the season along with 28 HR and 73 RBI. New York is getting a tremendous amount of production from the middle of their lineup and Teixeira is the leader on this team. In his last 2 games, Teixeira has 4 HR, 8 RBI and is 6 for his last 8 at bats. It simply doesn't get better than that and the White Sox are in deep trouble tonight as the baseball has been carrying in very high temperatures.
