As part of this keen capper's mission to beat the baseball betting odds, SBR presents the MLB picks of the day for Saturday, August 8th, focusing on Money Line odds for two stellar matchups.

Joe C. Record 99-55 +50.65 Units
We come off of Friday, looking for our 100th win of the season at a near 66 percent clip and up over 50 units and take Kershaw and deGrom in their respective games. Thankfully, the Mets came back to overcome the Rays and we move on to Saturday where things look bright and Noah Syndergaard awaits. See who we like as other pick as wed have dominated all season long.

New York Mets vs. Tampa Bay Rays: Late Game Rally
We stuck to our guns and tailed the Mets and they didn't disappoint as they scored 1 run in the 7th on a Juan Uribe home run, 1 run in the 8th and 2 runs in the the inning to overtake the Tampa Bay Rays. It really was a gift win as Jacob deGrom got the start. Daniel Murphy homered and the bottom of the lineup for New York led the way with Wilmer Flores and Michael Comforto both contributing.

Ever since that game where Flores was seen crying in the dugout, thinking that he was traded, he's come through time and time again for the Mets. New York also has Juan Uribe and he's noted for being the best teammate in the clubhouse in baseball. This is a team with the best pitching staff in baseball and Noah Syndergaard (6-5, 2.66) get's hits chance to deliver the Mets their 8th consecutive victory.

The Mets have passed Washington and don't appear to be looking back in the National League East Division. The only thing that the Mets will need to deal with is the hot hitting of Evan Longoria and Nathan Karns (6-5, 3.37) ,who has pitched exceptionally well, In a short sampling, Karns has a 0.75 ERA in 12 innings against the National League and that will give the Mets inconsistent offense something to think about.

Longo
Evan Longoria might not be the same player that he once was and his team might not be as good as they once were, but they're still in a pennant race and Longo has been ripping the cover off of the baseball. In the past week, he's 11 for 26 with 3 doubles, 2 HR and 5 RBI. Longoria also hits over .300 at Tropicana Field. He will surely not be an easy out for Syndergaard and the righty will need to proceed with caution when facing the veteran Longoria.

As great as he's been, Noah Syndergaard, a member of "The Big 3", is only pitching to a 4.34 ERA on the road. That said, he's continued to produce all season long as the Mets contain the hardest throwing pitchers in baseball. Velocity-wise the hardest throwing team has been going to the World Series consistently. I thought that this was an interesting stat as New York meets the requirements. Can the Mets get past another test and run away from the pack in the NL East? Look for New York to win their 8th consecutive game and at very appealing betting odds.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres: Underperforming
The San Diego Padres have not lived up to the high expectations that were labeled on them when Matt Kemp, Justin Upton, and James "Big Game " Shields were acquired in the off-season.

The Padres would need a major run with just 2 months to go and 10.5 games behind the National League leading Los Angeles Dodgers. That said, the Pads are in a good situation tonight as they face the Philadelphia Phillies, who are 43-67 and just 16-38 on the road. Although the Padres have a losing record at home, they have to feel confident as Tyson Ross take to the rubber.

Lack of Run Support
Ross has actually pitched very well as he's pitched to a 3.37 ERA and has averaged more than a strikeout per inning. It's the offense that has let him down. Justin Upton has seen his batting average plummet to just .251 after a fast start to the season. Matt Kemp also hasn't lived up to expectations also although he's started to increase his home run total as of late.

Where Upton is concerned, he plays well at Petco Park. He's hitting .302 with 13 HR and 33 RBI. Those are very solid numbers and he's facing a team with very little talent after they got rid of Ben Revere. Think about it. Revere is the Phillies best hitter and goes to the Blue Jays and is batting last in the Jays batting order. This just shows the bettor how bad the Philadelphia Phillies really are.

Adam Morgan (2-3, 4.46) is no match for guys like Solarte, Upton and even Kemp at this time in this career on the road. The Padres should beat up on the Phillies in this Saturday night game.
