Recap

Playing with Fire....
We split for the day, but as I mentioned, we played with fire and in this case we got burnt in the Dodgers game as we layed a massive amount of juice with Clayton Kershaw and payed the price.

I'm not saying that we won't be doing this again, but after such a terrible outcome, it's time to be extra cautious and protect the profit as yesterday was a disappointment. That said, the MLB gives the bettor so many chances for profit due to the amount of games and frequency of games in the season. Let's take our time and get back to where we think that we should be.

Miami Marlins vs. New York Yankees
The Yankees have been my saving grace all season long and I like the resiliency that they showed yesterday in a 2-1 victory at Yankee Stadium over the Miami Marlins after getting pounded by the Marlins and former Yankee David Phelps the day before in Miami.

A Good Outing For C.C.?
Tonight, C.C. Sabathia takes the mound and he's done enough to keep the Yankees in games, but at 3-7 with a 5.38 ERA, he's certainly not the Sabathia of old. All of those innings that he's pitched are starting to catch up with him. He actually tried gaining weight to regain an edge, but it hasn't work. That said, Sabathia should at least be able to keep the Yankees in this ball game. They have overachieved all season long and there's no Jacoby Ellsbury in the lineup yet they continue to win ball games.

I expect Sabathia to pitch carefully when pitching to Giancarlo Stanton (24 HR, 62 RBI, .261) as Sabathia has allowed 4 home runs in his last 2 games and Stanton was successful against the Yankees two games ago in Miami as he smashed his 24th home run of the season.

Giancarlo Stanton
Stanton is the most powerful man in baseball and will feel very comfortable at Yankee Stadium, a place that is notorious for it's short dimensions. In the last week alone, Stanton is 10 for 25 with 3 HR and 11 RBI. June has certainly been his month. I worry less about guys like Dee Gordon because Gordon has no power whatsoever.

Look for New York to make back to back wins against the Marlins as they're the better team, and this is a lineup that C.C. can feel comfortable in facing.

New York Mets vs. Toronto Blue Jays

R.A. Dickey vs. His Old Team
The Blue Jays sure payed the Mets back for breaking their double digit winning streak with an 8-0 beating led by starter Drew Hutchinson and now R.A. Dickey, who should have no animosity towards the Mets, faces his old ball club.

The Mets are the ones that made out like bandits in the Dickey trade as they picked up Travis d'arnaud and Noah Syndergaard for Dickey. Dickey (2-6, 5.29) has never lived up to expectations as a member of the Blue Jays as the knuckleball can be very unpredictable.

Although I'm not ready to jump on the Mets bandwagon because Dickey is capable of a solid performance, today's game will be a lot more competitive than yesterday's blowout.

Bartolo Colon
This is a tale of two 40 plus year old pitchers as Bartolo Colon (9-4, 4.41) takes the mound for the Mets and he's been sensational since being a member of the Mets. You take one disastrous outing against St.Louis out of the equation and Colon's ERA is a point lower. He's actually learning how to hit the ball and not be an automatic out also. Mets management and fans have been thrilled with this portly man as he's come through for them on several occasions. He's an innings eater that's seen it all and will have to proceed with caution as he faces the best offense in the majors with the likes of Reyes, Bautista, Donaldson, and Encarnacion.

I don't expect Colon to be intimidated. I actually like the total in this game as I think both pitchers will pitch effectively. Take the under as your MLB pick.
