Tampa Bay Rays vs. Houston Astros: Keuchel's Revenge?
Dallas Keuchel has been rotating wins and loses for his last six starts and if you look at that trend, he's due for a loss. Luckily for me, I don't look at that trend as Keuchel has had a spectacular season with a 14-6 record and a 2.36 ERA.
The most impressive statistics are the 1.26 ERA that Keuchel carries at home and the .213 batting average that he has held opponents.to. Both teams need this game as the Astros have a 2.5 game lead over the Angels in the American League West Division and the Rays are 7.5 games behind the Yankees in the East are checking in at 59-60.
One would think that this is a good spot for Keuchel as he lost to the Rays on the road on July 11th, receiving no support while allowing 3 runs in 7 innings. The Astros are a different baseball team at home than they are on the road as they're 43-20 at Minute Maid Park.
Little Man. Big Numbers
Jose Altuve got off to a very slow start to the season, but he's come on real strong as of late and he's filling up the stat sheets along with being the leader on this Astros team. This is a player with a competitive fire as you can remember a game where the great Miguel Cabrera untucked Altuve's uniform. Altuve quickly gave it back to Miggy and the only thing that I can remember was the look on the 5 foot 5 Altuve's face. He's all business.
Altuve has finally reached the .300 mark and surpassed it, hitting .307 with 9 HR, 50 RBI, and 31 SB. Altuve is 11 for his last 27 at bats. The Astros have a deeper team offensively, home field advantage, and the better starter in Keuchel. Make the Astros your MLB pick.

New York Mets vs. Baltimore Orioles: Fading Syndergaard?
This is definitely a risky pick as I've been tailing the Mets and Yankees all season long with tons of success. However, the Mets starter tonight, Noah Syndergaard (7-6, 3.07) has been a beast all season long and the Mets are playing like playoff contenders, but Syndergaard has had a real rough time on the road, pitching to an ERA of 5.01.
If you're going to come into Camden Yards, you better be ready for battle as the Baltimore Orioles (61-57) are 5 games behind the Yankees, have a very dangerous offensive lineup, and will take advantage of mistakes that a 22 year old Syndergaard can bring to the table.
The Orioles contain the trio of Manny Machado (25 HR, 62 RBI, .299 BA, 15 SB), Adam Jones (22 HR, 63 RBI, .280 BA), and Chris Davis (34 HR, 89 RBI, .257 BA). The Mets have improved their offense with Yoenis Cespedes, but would give anything to have any of these 3 players on their roster.
Davis has adjusted his swing and it's brought him back to the 50 home run guy that he was a couple of years ago. The only stat that scares me is that he's hitting just 8 for 55 against National League pitching. That aside, look for the O's to get past Noah Syndergaard and the much improved New York Mets
