San Francisco Giants vs. Oakland Athletics

Madison at -140 Is  "A Must"
Anytime that you can pick up a starting pitcher such as Madison Bumgarner (8-4, 1.99 ERA) at -140 MLB odds against an anemic Oakland Athletics offense (35-43) , it's a must bet situation.

The San Francisco Giants (49-31) have lost 3 straight games and still have a comfortable lead atop of the National League West Division by 6 games. This is the perfect time for San Francisco's best pitcher to start (no offense to Johnny Cueto) and I look for Bumgarner to give this team a boost as they face a team in the Athletics who have won 3 in a row and 7 out of their last 10, but make no mistake about it, they're going nowhere. Add in the fact, that the Athletics ball park benefits the defense and pitching with their deep dimensions and large amount of space in foul territory and everything sets up nicely for the Giants to break their current losing streak.

Not a "Bum"
The Giants have allowed Oakland, which usually is a low scoring baseball team, to score 20 runs in their last 2 games and that's the reason for the betting odds. We take a look at Madison Bumgarner's numbers and they look quite good as he hasn't allowed more than 3 earned runs in 10 out of his last 10 starts. Bumgarner is coming off of two losses, but it's due to lack of run support. In his last 2 games, which were losses, Bumgarner has allowed 4 earned runs on 10 hits in 14 1/3 innings. He's not a pitcher that will allow the opposition to reach base as opposing players are batting a mere .204 off of him and he has 29 walks and 122 striekouts in 108 1/3 innings pitched this season.

Brandon Belt
It's quite obvious that San Francisco needs a boost offensively. Buster Posey has been okay, but not nearly as productive as he was last season. Brandon Belt has carried this team on his back.

For the season, Belt is hitting .299 with 10 HR and 38 RBI. He also carries a .399 OBP%. Belt has really done well on the road with a .333 BA along with 7 HR and 18 RBI. To go along with this production, he's been effective in the month of June, hitting .316 with 5 HR and 13 RBI. If the Giants get their offense going, this game should be a victory with Bumgarner pitching.

Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves
While Giancarlo Stanton is finally starting to find his stroke, the Atlanta Braves (26-52, 11-32 at home) stil haven't found their's. Lately, Atlanta has been rather competitive, but there's a difference between being competitive and winning ball games. Miami (41-37) on the other hand, has taken over 2nd place in the National League East Division over the New York Mets by default as the Marlins have lost 2 straight and are 5-5 in their last 10 games. Nontheless, the fish have had a solid season and this appears to be a favorable matchup as the Braves can't buy a game at Turner Field.

Marcell Ozuna and Giancarlo Stanton
While Christian Yelich (6 HR, 38 RBI, .314 BA) and Martin Prado (.316 BA) are both having amazing season, Ozuna and Stanton are the big bats in this Marlins lineup and now things are starting to come together. Ozuna has been the best player on Miami all season long and it also doesn't hurt that he's 11 for 29 against Atlanta with 1 HR and 2 RBI. Stanton has had an overall terrible season and he still has 15 HR and 40 RBI. This is a player with possibly the most power in the game and has 3 HR and 9 RBI in his last 8 games. He's too good a hitter to be hitting in the low 200's and I expect him to have a big second half of the season and his power will always be there. Whie this game can go either way, the Marlins are the safe play with legitimate ball players.
