Arizona Diamondbacks vs. New York Mets

Matt Harvey Day
Matt Harvey (7-6, 3.11) has been making the press often lately and he's went from the most popular Met to possibly one of the most unpopular players on the team....until he pitches like he did 2 seasons ago. Harvey is living in fast lane and flaunting it and fans aren't liking it as guys like Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard, are doing their jobs quietly and getting better results than the New London, Connecticut native.

Steven Matz will be out for a while and the Mets need Matt Harvey to shut up and be the franchise player that he's capable of being. New York is coming off of a very impressive 4-2 win against the D'Backs last night as Noah Syndergaard had a career high 13 strikeouts. Syndergaard was making guys like Paul Goldschmidt look bad as Goldy is prone to the strikeout despite his MVP-like season.

Two huge positives for the Mets are that Lucas Duda and Michael Cuddyer both went yard last night. They were the two most unlikely stars of the game and hit back to back homers early in the game to set the tone for the outcome. New York really needs this to continue and this is the perfect time for both players to emerge.

Corbin Could Show Signs of Rust
As for the D'Backs, Patrick Corbin gets his 2nd start of the season and he'll most likely be subjected to a pitch count. Corbin won his only outing of the season, but its wasn't a dominant performance as he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits to Colorado. He'll need to pitch well here as he has a Mets team coming into this game with major momentum and Matt Harvey will be trying to prove a point in this game. I don't see Arizona running away with this game

As for Harvey, he's 0-1 in his last 3 starts and has allowed just 4 runs in 17 2/3 innings. The Mets offense has let him down, but he hasn't been overpowering and the dominant force that we've seen in the past. This is a statement game as you take the New York Mets as your MLB pick.

Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs

Battle of Chicago
This afternoon ball game will be all about the pitching as you have two of the most dominant forces in the games even thought their numbers might not indicate it as Chris Sale and Jose Abreu look to defeat crafty veteran, Jon Lester, who also has a decent amount of bats supporting him, including Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant.

Sailing Along
Chris Sale has definitely been the better pitcher out of the two in this matchup. His team doesn't provide him with run support. For the season, Sale is 7-4 with a 2.80 ERA. This is a pitcher that already has pitched 112 innings this season and has 147 strikeouts. He's set up to put up huge numbers and eclipse the 300 strikeout mark. Sale has also held opposing batters to a .205 batting average. He doesn't allow walks or home runs. I don't think the White Sox can ask for anything more, other than a Jose Abreu dinger at Wrigley Field to seal the victory.

Lester has pitched well as of late (4-7 ,3.48), but is overmatched here and he hasn't been getting a ton of run support either. That seems to be a common theme in the MLB. He hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 2 starts, which has accounted for 14 innings.

This game has under written all over it as long as the winds at Wrigley Field aren't a factor (going out).
