It's time for some MLB Picks of the Day as I know that the betting public will benefit from my research applied to the smaller slate of games offered for Monday, May 18th.

Recap and the Golden Rule
I want to teach a few novices about grinding during a baseball season and making a profit. Yesterday's MLB picks are a great example. We took a slightly favored Washington team and they destroyed their opponent 10-5. In the 2nd game on Sunday Night Baseball, we narrowly missed a win with a 2-1 Tigers loss to the Cardinals.

Folks, this is okay. We didn't lose a penny overall for the day. The Tigers were a legitimate underdog in the MLB betting odds and we took a shot. The only negative thing that it does is put an L in the loss column, but "No harm, no foul". Now, let's look for some Class A picks for Monday.

St. Louis Cardinals (25-12) vs. New York Mets (22-16)

Live Or Die With Matt Harvey
The great Matt Harvey gets the start for the Mets and thus far, he's been a success at 5-1 with a 2.31 ERA, but he hasn't been the same imposing figure that he was before the Tommy John Surgery. That said, when you get Harvey at odds of -137, you take it.

Another concern is the Mets offense. In Matt Harvey's last start, he pitched his best game of the season, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 9 batters against the Chicago Cubs in a no-decision. It was a perfect outing as he hit the magic number of pitches of 100.

Tonight, he faces a potent Cardinals offense that contains Matt Carpenter, Matt Holliday, Yadier Molina, Matt Adams. The list goes on. The Cards start John Lackey and are coming off of a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday Night Baseball. This game is going to be played in the pitcher-friendly Citi-FIeld and I'm thinking that the game will come down to the pitching. The Mets have the edge and I'm siding with the Amazins. The weather could be a concern, but I'm going to take the well thought-out risk.

Milwaukee Brewers (13-25) vs. Detroit Tigers (23-15)

Coming Back to Commerica and Home
I think that this will boost the Detroit Tigers spirits after a 2-1 loss yesterday to Lance Lynn and the Cardinals. The Tigers still won the series and this is a good spot as they face Mike Fiers (1-4, 5.00), who has not pitched well. As for the Brewers, they're coming off of a very destructive loss as Carlos Gomez got hit in the ear flap by a 98 mph Noah Syndergaard fast ball. Syndergaard was shaken up as it was not intentional and so was Gomez. That's a big important hitter out of the lineup for the Brew Crew.

Aside from the unintentional beaning, Syndergaard owned the Milwaukee offense in a 5-1 victory as his fastball overpowered the Milwaukee offense.

They can't be feeling too good, coming into this game and not a great city to visit (sorry Detroit). The Brewers still have some offensive threats such as Ryan Braun, Adam Lind, and Aramis Ramirez, but the Tigers offense is one of the tops in the league with the best hitter in baseball over the last decade in Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera has a nice little cushion with Rajai Davis and Ian Kinsler in front of him and J.D. Martinez and Yoenis Cespedes behind him. Detroit starter, Kyle Lobstein (3-3, 4.33) doesn't exude confidence, but their lineup and the odds in this game more than make up for it. Make Detroit your MLB pick.
