Coming off of another winning day, our objective is to keep grinding away and stay consistent. A couple of games really stand out on this Wednesday and we'll explain why in our MLB Picks of the Day.

San Francisco Giants vs. San Diego Padres

Johnny Cueto Belongs In the National League
Just like a player might have an asterik for using PED's, Johnny Cueto should have an asterik by his name as an exceptional National League pitcher. He was a stud with the Cincinnati Reds and then not as effective in the American League with the Kansas City Royals, but now he's back in the National League and doing and outstanding job for the first place San Francisco Giants.

Cueto (5-1, 2.97 ERA) is a big reason why the Giants are division leaders as he's managed to have some outstanding showings. In his last 2 starts, Cueto is 1-0 and has allowed 2 runs in 15 innings pitched. If you take away one poor outing against Cincinnati on the 2nd of May, Cueto has allowed just 2 runs in 24 1/3 innings while walking 5 batters and striking out 23.

Free passes are one thing that the native of the the Dominican Republic doesn't allow and San Diego, who possesses a below average offense, should have problems in a pitcher-friendly park such as Petco Park.

6 Game Winning Streak
The Giants started off the season renewed and on a nice run and then started to tail off. Now, they've regained their orginial form and even at 23-18, have to feel very comfortable where they are in the division and with the depth that they contain on offense with as they're riding a 6 game winning streak.

Everyone knows what Buster Posey is capable of as he's gotten off to a bit of a slow start over the first month and change. Brandon Belt (4 HR, 22 RBI, .440 OBP%) and Hunter Pence (6 HR, 29 RBI, .391 OBP%) are the two go to guys in this offense as they make great contact and also have a great eye at the plate.

Where the Padres are concerned, Matt Kemp (10 HR, 29 RBI) is the leader of the team. He's not the same player that he was with the Dodgers, but he shows flashes of his former self and has been effective against Cueto, hitting .350 with 2 HR and 2 RBI in 20 at-bats. Nonetheless, the MLB odds are attractive and the Giants should make it 7 straight wins.

Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers

No Reason To Panic
Although there's no reason to panic if you're a Chicago Cubs fans as the Cubs are 27-10 and in control of the National League Central Division, this is a team that people are paranoid about as they haven't won a World Series in over a century and are "The Bad News Bears" of baseball. Anything that will go wrong, goes wrong. While that may have been the theme in the past, the 2016 Cubs are special and that's not going to happen.

The Cubs have lost their last 2 games and the offense has only managed to produce 3 runs while Milwaukee (17-22) has won their last 2 games. I don't expect the trifecta to happen either way here as the Cubs have too much talent.

John Lackey (4-2, 3.54 ERA), who possesses a world of experience, is the perfect pitcher to keep the Cubbies in this game and leave it up to the offense. In his last 3 starts, Lackey has pitched 23 innings and allowed just 5 earned runs, therefore he's coming into this game with some momentum after some early season troubles.

Dexter Fowler
One player that doesn't get a ton of attention is centerfielder, Dexter Fowler. All Fowler has done this season is reached base 43.9% of the time to go along with his 3 HR, 19 RBI, and 6 SB. Fowler has also been a road warrior, hitting .400 on the road in 60 at-bats with 2 HR and 8 RBI. Add in the big boppers like Anthony Rizzo (11 HR, 34 RBI) and Kris Bryant (7 HR, 26 RBI) and this is a team to be reckoned with whether they've lost their last 2 game or their last 5 games. I expect more winning streaks than losing streaks and the Cubs are due to put an end to this mini losing streak and become the MLB pick of the day.
