We have some really competitive matchups for Tuesday and that makes for some good value. However, there are a couple of quality aces starting and the chalk looks appealing in MLB betting.

Chicago White Sox vs. New York Mets

Young Phenom, Steven Matz
The New York Mets have to have a good feeling  going into this game after Matt Harvey pitched 7 scoreless innings en route to a 1-0 victory on Memorial Day. This was the White Sox 7th consecutive loss and at 27-25, are starting to fall apart after a great start to the season. Tonight, things will get worse for Chicago as Steven Matz (7-1, 2.36 ERA) takes the mound and he's been brilliant in his short MLB career winning 11 of 12 decisions. The Mets lineup has been decimated by injuries, but they have the pitching to carry them through the losses of Lucas Duda and David Wright.

How Good Is He?
After a rough first appearance this season in which he allowed 7 runs and 6 hits in 1 2/3 innings to the Miami Marlins on April 11th, Matz has won 7 straight games. In those 7 starts he's allowed 6 runs in 48 innings pitched. I tell you this because his performance this season is actually much better than his 2.36 ERA indicates.

In his last outing, Steven Matz pitched 8 innings of 4 hit ball in a win over the tough Washington Nationals. This game is perfect timing for Matz and an injured Mets lineup as the White Sox haven't been able to buy a victory.

Jose Abreu
A big reason for the lack of success for Chicago has been the poor play of 1st baseman, Jose Abreu. Abreu has managed to hit 6 HR and 27 RBI, but just like Todd Frazier, who leads the league in home runs (15), Abreu is having difficulties living up to his near career .300 BA. He's hitting just .248 and has finally started to make better contact with the baseball. In the last week, Abreu doesn't have a single RBI, but he is 8 for 24 (.333) and the White Sox need guys other than Adam Eaton to get on base. Batting average and reaching base has been their Achilles Heel.

We should definitely see Michael Conforto in the lineup for the Mets, who can use all of the bats that they can get as Yoenis Cespedes continues to carry them and look for Steven Matz to keep the White Sox in check. He might very well be the best pitcher on the best pitching staff in the majors.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago Cubs

The Best Team and Pitcher in Baseball
You've guessed it; Jake Arrieta (9-0, 1.72 ERA) gets the start and while many people might say that Clayton Kershaw has been the best pitcher for a career and possibly this season, there no denying what Arrieta has done the last couple of seasons.

He's the reigning NL CY Young Award Winner and has started the 2016 MLB Season with a bang, winning 9 of 9 decisions. Some might say that Kershaw is on an inferior team with less run support while Arrieta is on the favorites in the Chicago Cubs to win the World Series. This is true, but Arrieta still has to perform and unlike most pitchers, is coming into his prime at 30 years of age. What we should be asking is does Jake Arrieta have a chance to make the hall of fame at this advanced age and just 65 career wins if he keeps pitching in such a dominant manner?

Arrieta is on such a supportive team that he had his worst outing of the year last game, allowing 4 runs and 7 hits in 5 innings to the St. Louis Cardinals and he still picked up the victory.

Facing a Dodgers team that doesn't have much firepower with the exception of Adrian Gonzalez (5 HR, 26 RBI, .296 BA) and Corey Seager (8 HR, 24 RBI, .270 BA), Arrieta has a great shot at going a perfect 10-0 as the Dodgers don't have a legitimate superstar on their squad.

Loveable Losers?
This is not the case for the 35-14 Chicago Cubs anymore. They've won 6 straight games and have a fierce pitching staff and young hitters to balance out the team. Ben Zobrist (7 HR, 35 RBI, .351 BA, .452 OBP%) has been tearing the cover off of the baseball. He's hitting a whopping .418 with 6 HR and 25 RBI in the month of May and he's led the way for Chicago.

The Cubs also possess the trio of Dexter Fowler (6 HR, 24 RBI, .433 OBP%), Kris Bryant (11 HR, 37 RBI, .285 BA), and Anthony Rizzo (11 HR, 37 RBI, .378 OBP%). The Cubs have been drawing a ton of free passes as you can see from their on base percentage. Rizzo is only hitting .239, but the fear is there. Look for Chicago to steamroll the Dodgers tonight as Jake Arrieta goes for win number 10.
