Do we head for the two games containing heavy chalk or look to pick our spot in a different appealing MLB matchup? Here are your MLB Picks of the Day for Friday.

Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals
His name is Michael Fulmer (7-1, 2.52 ERA) and he was involved in the Yoenis Cespedes trade that saw Cespedes go to the New York Mets and the Detroit Tigers (34-32) received Fulmer. Folks, he's been nothing short of spectacular and goes to a team that has been tearing the cover off of the baseball and has been known as one of the best offensive squads in baseball for a long time, led by Miguel Cabrera.

Composure is the best word to describe Fulmer as he never get's phased by any situation. This is the makings of a superstar and he and the Tigers will be a slight betting favorite tonight after squashing a Royals team yesterday, who are 22-8 at Kaufman Stadium. This game is going to be exciting from a betting standpoint and as a baseball fan.

He's Back
This season, Victor Martinez returned to his old form after a lousy 2015 season. The only thing missing for this .338 hitter was power. Yesterday took care of that as he proceeded to go for the trifecta and hit 3 home runs. This enabled me to go undefeated on the day and there might be a carryover effect as Martinez had just 9 home runs before yesterday. Now he's near the top of the pack on his team with 12 and his ability to get on base, speaks for itself.

This game was all Victor Martinez as not one other Tiger, except for Andrew Romine, had more than 1 hit for the game. However, a slumping Nick Castellanos and James McCann also went yard. This was a big game for Detroit. The only negative that came out of the game was J.D. Martinez leaving the game due to an injury. This could be a huge loss for Detroit.

I want to get back to Michael Fulmer because in a Fulmer vs. Ventura matchup, the odds and I say that Fulmer has the edge. In his last 4 games (27 1/3 innings), Fulmer hasn't allowed a single run! He also has allowed a mere 9 hits. The Detroit Tigers are the play here.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Los Angeles Dodgers
The Milwaukee Brewers (31-36) aren't as bad as it appears and the Los Angeles Dodgers (35-33) are basically carried by Clayton Kershaw and the Brew Crew are major underdogs and Big Clayton isn't pitching tonight. Add in a starting pitching matchup that surely favors the Milwaukee Brewers and the Brewers look mighty appealing at +146.

What Am I Missing?
Good pitching wins games and unless the team with a poor pitcher has an overwhelming offense, the good pitching takes presidence.

In this matchup, the Brewers have the clear advantage as Zach Davies (5-3, 3.88 ERA) takes to the mound and squares off against Julio Arias (0-2, 5.82 ERA) for the Los Angeles Dodgers. While Arias was serviceable in his last outing, allowing 2 runs and 4 hits in 5 1/3 innings, the Dodgers bullpen will need to get involved as 5 1/3 innings is the longest amount of time that Arias has pitched in 4 starts this season.

We look at Zach Davies and he's won his last 4 starts, allowing 4 earned runs on 14 hits in 28 2/3 innings. The only issue that concerns me with Davies is that he carries a dismal 7.82 ERA on the road, but it was a small sampling of just 12 2/3 innings. Milwaukee is coming off of an 8-6 victory over the Dodgers and with Aaron Hill and Jonathan Villar both coming off of homers ( Villar's was the game winner) followed by Ryan Braun (11 HR, 36 RBI, .306 BA), the Milwaukee Brewers are a solid underdog play in this game.
