Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers: Striving for the NL CY Young Award
While the Chicago Cubs have the playoffs to think about, don't think for one minute that the CY Young award isn't important to Jake Arrieta as Arrieta has been the hottest pitcher in baseball; seemingly unhittable. Arrieta faces a Milwaukee Brewers team who is at home and heavy betting underdog, but ultimately going nowhere. The odds are high, but Arrieta has been beating the best teams in the league. I see no reason why he should have trouble here.

How Good Is He?
Even though the Dodgers are the National League Division Champs, there's no doubt in my mind that Arrieta has this award locked up. At 21-6, with a 1.82 ERA, opposing hitters are hitting just .187 off of him.

We look at the last two months of the season and he's gotten hot at the right time, winning 10 of his last 10 decisions and pitching to an ERA of 0.44. That's as good as a pitcher can pitch and Milwaukee doesn't have a snowball's chance in this game and Arrieta doesn't want to go into the playoffs on a sour note.

Chicago has also won 5 straight games and are just 2 games behind the Pittsburgh Pirates (94-65). I don't ever recall the Cubbies having this good a season and offensively it's due to the emergence of rookie, Kris Bryant (26 HR, 99 RBI, .279 BA) and Anthony Rizzo (30 HR, 96 RBI, .277 BA). This is a game of simply stating the facts and the only thing to worry about are the odds, but the way that this team is playing, they are a non-factor.

Washington Nationals at New York Mets: Rain Is a Possibility
Even though rain has been prevalent throughout the Northeast part of the United States, a lot of these games have been played because there are no time for make-up dates. When you get Noah Syndergaard against a down and out Washington Nationals team at CitiField, you jump on the Mets because this is as good as the Mets have ever played in their franchise in the regular season and Washington is a demoralized group of players fighting over who was correct in the Harper-Papelbon scuffle.

Washington just wants this season to be done with and they have to face a flame thrower in Noah Syndergaard . What shocks me is that the Mets are only a -135 betting favorite. Maybe odds makers think that Syndergaard will be lifted early as he has nothing to gain in this game. I, personally, think that momentum is important and at those odds, the Mets are an outright steal.

Starters Might Not Play
This is the major issue as the Phillies destroyed the Mets yesterday behind the pitching of Jerad Eickhoff as Eickhoff went 7 strong innings. New York has also lost 3 straight games, but with Noah Syndergaard (9-7, 3.34), there really isn't much to worry about despite who starts in the lineup offensively. Look for the Mets to put the final nail in the Nats coffin as this regular season is a wrap and the New Yorkers would like to embarrass this team.
