It's a pressure-packed Saturday in the MLB, teams are fighting it out for their division titles and respective wild card spots. See who we like as our picks on this sports-filled day.
New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves: The Team of the Present and the Future
The New York Mets sit comfortably 8.5 games in front of the Washington Nationals for the National League East Division Championship at 80-61. New York has really come on strong since the additions of Yoenis Cespedes, Kelly Johnson, and Juan Uribe, but this pitching staff is 2nd to none.
The Dodgers might have the 2 best pitchers in the league, but when it comes to depth in the pitching staff, nobody can touch the Mets. Every single night, they bring out another top-notch starter and tonight it's Noah Syndergaard (8-6,3.31). Syndergaard is a young flame thrower that has been relatively average in his last few starts, but against one of the two worst teams in the major leagues in the Atlanta Braves, giving up 3 or 4 runs in 6 or 7 innings, should do the trick and I don't think the Braves are capable of putting up that amount of runs. Syndergaard throws heat and averages a strikeout per inning while not having lost a start since August 8th. This is due to the run support that the Mets offense has been giving him.
Tickets are Available
This is because the Atlanta Braves are experimenting with their team and sit at 56-86, winning just 2 out of their last 10 games. Atlanta is known for winning and this has to be one of the worst Atlanta teams that we've seen in the last few decades.
They don't have the pitching and the offense isn't much better with the exception for Freddie Freeman. Teams go through a rebuilding period and Atlanta is in the process of this at the present time.Any MLB betting odds with the Mets as a -200 favorite or under with Syndergaard pitching and the emergence of Yoenis Cespedes and the return of a fresh David Wright, the bettor should jump on the Mets.
The only player that New York has to worry about is Freddie Freeman. Freeman is batting .324 with 1 HR and 4 RBI in the month of September. There are players that are capable of getting on base such as Nick Markakis and Cameron Maybin (only available to pinch hit), but they lack the power to change the complexion of a game.

Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins
The Washington Nationals are a much better team than their record indicates, but they've been on a major slide for the last couple of months and their ace, Max Scherzer, has had a very disappointing season for his standards. Games that the Nats should be winning, they're losing.
They're currently on a 4 game losing streak at 71-69 and must face one of the better pitchers in the league in Jose Fernandez (4-0, 2.38) of the Marlins. Fernandez hasn't pitched since August 7th and his one problem is staying healthy after undergoing a serious surgery when he was at the top of his game. Washington must win every game, especially against an inferior team such as Miami. If Fernandez is on a pitch count, Washington could be a live underdog to think about as they are a desperate baseball team.
In my mind, Bryce Harper is the MVP in the American League this season as he leads the Nationals in all major offensive statistical categories.
For the season, Harper has 36 HR, 85 RBI, and a .334 BA. His OBP% is out of this world at .466. Some people will still point to Mike Trout and despite and amazing batting average, Miguel Cabrera is on a lousy team and hasn't had enough at-bats to compete with Harper .Harper needs to come up with something special here as his team is drowning before our very eyes.
