Making a Dash for the Post Season
While the Minnesota Twins have had a successful, but surprising season at 50-43, they're starting to go in the wrong direction at 50-43 and don't really have the talent to compete with the elite teams.Tonight, they get a tough matchup at Angels Stadium against an Angels team which has won 6 consecutive game and have dominated at home at 30-18.
Mike Trout and Albert Pujols are also starting to tear the cover off of the baseball and if the Angels receive any type of pitching, they will be a tough team to beat. Tonight, C.J. Wilson (7-7, 3.59) get's a very winnable matchup as he and the Angels are favored over Pelfrey and the Twins. Wilson has pitched very well as of late but has come up empty-handed in the win column in his last two starts.
Normally, it's the other way around as Wilson disappoints his team as he usually pitches in excess of 100 pitches by the 5th or 6th inning, but he's been on point as of late and this is a matchup in which he should dominate.
In his last 4 starts, Wilson has allowed 7 earned runs in 26 2/3 innings and is really keeping the opposition in check, allowing just 21 hits. The Angels have a decisive edge in this game and the betting odds indicate this fact. Not only that, the Halos have outscored the Twins 25-4 in their 3 wins. Now, that's dominance!
This season is the first season that Pujols has really earned his huge contract for Los Angeles as he's been picking up big hits and hitting for power. We're only at July and and Pujols leads the team with 29 HR and 60 RBI.
His batting average may never be what it was in St. Louis, but he's playing like the superstar that he's been over the last decade. In the past week alone, Pujols is hitting .389 with 3 HR and 4 RBI thanks to a 2 home run game against the Red Sox. We could see a huge game out of "Fat Albert" as Mike Pelfrey is no Cy Young. Look for the Angels to go for the sweep as this has been a one-sided series.

Riding the New York Baseball Teams
I won't deny it, I've been picking my spots, but riding the New York teams this season has contributed to my outstanding record. I picked the Yankees yesterday and they won and I'm going to pick them again as they carry a tremendous amount of momentum at home and are playing way above their heads.
This might be their toughest matchup as of late as Ivan Nova (1-3, 3.42) is still trying to "get his feet wet" and has lost 3 consecutive starts and has allowed the opposition to a .275 batting average.
That said, Nova has at least been able to keep the Yankees in their respective games and the Yankees possess a deep offense of speed, power, and the ability to make contact with the baseball. I expect a Nova to come up big in this spot at home as the Yankees have taken control of the American League East Division
If there are a sign of problems from Nova, manager, Joe Girardi, is a manager that's quick to pull the hook and the Yankees bullpen is one of the best in the business.
Gardner has had an outstanding season that has landed him to the All-Star Game. He's hitting an even .300 and need's one more hit for 100 on the season. This is a player that has featured more power this season than he normally has in the past and is a table setter for the offense.
In the past, Gardy has tailed off towards the end of the season, but he's definitely matured and hit his prime as a player. He's never going to be a superstar, but is a stable force in the Yankees lineup with his bat and with his glove. He's a key reason why the Yankees are 10 games above .500 and leading their division. Yankee Stadium has been a hot spot for Gardner as he's hitting .329 with 8 HR and 26 RBI this season in the Bronx. Gausman has been a pitcher that Gardner has delivered against before and expect him and the Bombers to defeat the Orioles on this cooler ( temperature-wise) Wednesday night,
