Coming off our 6th consecutive MLB victory, we're feeling confident. It's time to produce a couple of more wins for the betting public to cash in on. It's time for MLB Picks of the Day for Friday, April 8th.

Joe C. Record 6-4, +4.24 Units

I started this season off at 0-4 and had no doubt that once I got acclimated to the games and the way that the players were playing, I was going to start winning and that's what has happened. Today is another day and the goal is to have a "plus-side" day in which you, the betting public, can cash in at the betting window. Let's do this!

Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets
deGrom is Da Man
Not only is Jacob deGrom the man, the New York Mets are "da team'. They are "da team" that has a chance to win the World Series despite odds makers leaning towards teams such as Chicago and Kansas City.

There is no team that can match the Mets pitching staff. If Steven Matz, who was undefeated last season, pans out like he should, the Mets will have a handful of aces on their squad, but the guy who gets the least amount of recognition and might actually be better than Matt Harvey is Jacob deGrom.

deGrom's career numbers don't do him justice as he's 23-14 with a career 2.64 ERA. The guy goes out every time, does the job, doesn't flaunt his greatness, and is the backbone of this team.

The weather might be a little chilly in this afternoon game, but the Mets will be happy to be home and you're going to see why they made it to the World Series last season. CitiField is a pitchers park and this is the perfect spot for Jacob deGrom as he faces an awful Philadelphia Phillies squad, who contain a bunch of unmentionables. Quite frankly, New York should steamroll the "Fightin Phils", who don't have much fight in them.

New York did just what they had to do as they won the 2nd game in a 2 game series against the defending World Champion Kansas City Royals. In their last game, the Mets shut out the Royals 2-0. We could see some low scoring outputs from the opponents end as this Mets pitching staff is the best that the MLB has seen since the Atlanta Braves of the early 90's and this Mets staff is actually better.

"Meet the Mets!"
Guys such as Travis d'arnaud, Curtis Granderson, and Yoenis Cespedes will need to step up big here as they've only had 8 at-bats each this season and need to shake the off-season rust off.

This is a talented group of players as Cespedes is coming off of a 31 HR, 101 RBI, 291. BA season and decided to stay with the Mets and was awarded a handsome some. Guys like Michael Comforto showed flashes of brilliance last season and if Travis d'arnaud can just stay healthy, he's going to have a huge season as he was part of the steal that brought him to New York for R.A. Dickey.

Off season acquisition, Neil Walker, has already proven his worth with a 1 HR and 3 RBI in 8 at-bats. He will provide more power than Daniel Murphy, who cashed in with the Washington Nationals due to his extraordinary post-season last year as Murph was smashing everything out of the ball park and then went limp in the World Series.

New York is a big-time betting favorite on the MLB Odds, and I'm not going to go via the runline route, I'm laying the massive amount of juice. This game is near automatic for a baseball game as you can get.

Texas Rangers at Los Angeles Angels
Momentum is Key
I've talked so many times about momentum. I picked the Los Angeles Angels to win yesterday with a 2 Unit play after getting blasted by the Chicago Cubs and sure enough, the Halos came through with an Albert Pujols game winning base hit. To me, this is huge because it gives the Angels some confidence and also provides Pujols with confidence. I saw the replay and he looked like the Albert Pujols that was winning MVP awards with the St. Louis Cardinals.

With Pujols to support Mike Trout, this becomes a different baseball team. A win tonight and the Angels turn into a team that couldn't score a run into a 2-2 baseball club with momentum.

Long Time, No See
The Athletics, start A.J. Griffin (21-11, 3.60 ERA for his career and Griffin hasn't pitched a Major League baseball game since 2013. Will their be rust or will Griffin pitch like a ball of fire? This is why we do what we do as handicappers. I look for Griffin to be handled with care. Even if he pitches well, he's not going 8 or 9 innings. I also expect, as I stated earlier, for the Angels to roll with the momentum;  even if it's just 1 win.

We take a very important look at "The Trout Watch" and he's been unable to avoid strikeouts and is hitting just .167 in 12 at-bats. That said, he's coming off of a 2 hit game against the Rangers and does have 2 home runs against Griffin in the past. Make the Angels your MLB pick in this game.
