There's a ton of betting going on this weekend, but right now, we're focused on the MLB Picks as this is crunchtime for this sport with just a handful of game remaining in the regular season.

Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers: Bounce Back Performance?
The Texas Rangers really disappointed me yesterday as they were riding a 5 game winning streak and in control of the American League West Division and delivered an uninpiring 3-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners who are a team that's going nowhere.

Tonight, the Rangers must get down to business as they send Cole Hamels (9-8, 3.76) to the mound and although he hasn't been the perfect Ranger, he's a legitimate above average pitcher that keeps the team in the game. So much, that he's 3-0 in his last 5 starts with 2 no-decisions. In the last 6 games that Hamels has started, the Rangers have won them all. It's the same old question. Can Cole Hamels stop the meat of the Mariners order when dealing with guys like Nelson Cruz?

Suspect Calls
The umpires had to go to the review and this forced an ejection with one call going Texas' way and the other call going against them. The call that went the Mariners way was the difference in the game. Well, actually Ketel Marte was the difference in the game as he hit 2 doubles (one questionable) with a run scored and 2 RBI's.

This was a worst case scenario for the Rangers as Marte would be the last guy that they would expect to beat them. That's baseball, anyone can come up with the game winning hit at any moment and the Rangers bats were quite silent except for Sin Soo-Choo. Choo had 3 hits on the day, but it wasn't enough. Texas needs to beat up on teams like this if they want to be considered a serious contender. With Hamels on the mound tonight, I think the Rangers will put on a show for the fans at Arlington.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Minnesota Twins: A Good Chance To Make Things Interesting
The Los Angeles Angels have had a disappointing season, but still have a chance at the AL Wild Card if they play the way that they're capable of. Yesterday's game was rained out, therefore the Rangers get 2 games with the Minnesota Twins today in Minneapolis.

I'm concerned about the 2nd game with Garrett Richards starting for the Halos against Mike Pelfrey. One thing working in favor of the Halos is this is a "day-night" doubleheader". While the players remain at the ball park, they'll get a rest between the early game and the late game. In this case, the Angels need to sweep, but the 2nd matchup with Richards, a pitcher that's proven that he can be a 20 game winner, looks like the more appealing matchup and if the Angels can play off of momentum from their last game and then game 1, game 2 will be a formality.

Mike Trout
I know Bryce Harper has had one stupendous season , but that doesn't make him better than MikeTrout as there's been a friendly comparison between both players as the future of baseball.

Right now, Trout has the edge. He's been an AL MVP already and has produced every single season without any injuries. Although Harper has had a better season this year, Trout has stayed consistent as you saw in his last game when he blasted two home runs (one being a grand slam) and making a great play in the field to provide the Angels with the victory.

For the season, Trout is batting .294 with 38 HR and 83 RBI on the season. I feel that he would easily have over 100 RBI if he had a better supporting cast. One statistic that I always go by is OBP% and Trout is right at .398 and that means he's in the elite class of players (like we didn't know that already). Trout is 7 for his last 20 with 4 HR and 7 RBI. He also has 5 BB because opposing pitchers are afraid to pitch to him. Expect the Angels to go all out in this doubleheader and I really like them with Richards starting.
