We're on a nice 6-0 run and look for it to continue as the month of May is in full effect. We have some really solid matchups today. MLB picks we think we can keep the streak going.

San Francisco Giants vs. Cincinnati Reds

Cueto Back in Cincinnati
After a disappointing season last year with the Kansas City Royals and still managing to win a World Series title, Johnny Cueto (4-1, 2.65 ERA) really gets a chance to really ram it home against his former team in the Reds. This was a team in which he really excelled with. He's attempting to return to elite status this season. This game should help as the Reds (10-15) are an awful team with a slumping Joey Votto (2 HR, 12 RBI, .230). That said, Zack Cozart has come out from nowhere to give the Reds a much needed boost.

Surprising Start
Zack Cozart was thought nothing more than an average player at the bottom of the lineup at best and now he's the Cincinnati Reds best hitter by far. So far this season, Cozart is hitting .347 with 2 HR, 9 RBI. These are amazing numbers indeed. The only negative to his game is drawing walks. He has just 3 BB on the season.

You can call him the Neil Walker of the Reds. A player can hit in the mid .300's but if they can't get any free passes, it takes away from their accomplishments as OBP% is more important than a spectacular batting average. Don't expect much from Cozart here. If he got a hit, he would be lucky as Johnny Cueto has a lot of insensitive to do well in this particular game.

.500 Across the Board in the NL West
The San Francisco Giants have little pressure on them at this time. The National League West Division is a mess as the Dodgers, Giants, and Rockies are all tied for 1st place with a mere .500 record. Even though they're are at the top of the division, the Giants and Dodgers can't be happy and could never compete with teams such as the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets.

The one thing that the Giants do well is hit for average. They have 5 players that hit .280 or better, led by Angel Pagan (2 HR, 13 RBI, .315 BA) and are a great small ball team. Their pitching has always been their strength and they need the pitching to return to it's old form in order for them to be contenders. In this game, the Giants should have no problem with Cueto getting the ball as he faces his old team. I'm backing this play as one of my MLB picks.

Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets

Atlanta is a Triple-A Minor League Squad
At 5-18 the Atlanta Braves are the laughing stock of the MLB. For all of those years in the past few decades, the Braves have been rubbing the dirt in the New York Mets (15-8) face and now it's time to turn the tables as the Mets were the team that was in the World Series last season and the Braves are the bottom-feeder. The only positive for the Braves is that they get to face Bartolo Colon (1-1, 3.42). That said, Colon can still handle any roster when he's at his best.

WeatherWatch
This game should go off as there's been precipitation in the Metropolitan New York Area. If anything, it could benefit the Mets as Colon would pitch less than he normally would, but I don't think that the Braves pose a major threat in this game.

New York has won 8 out of their last 9 games and Colon seek's to pass Pedro Martinez in wins for any born Domincan player. Sometimes a big accomplishment like that will push the pitcher and other times it will put too much pressure on him. We shall see. Colon is not one to buckle under pressure.

Michael Conforto
Even though he played last season, I think that this would be considered Conforto's rookie season and he's proving to be a superstar as he leads the Mets in hitting at 4 HR, 18 RBI, and a .342 BA. Conforto is hitting well over .400 where OBP% is concerned and has already 11 doubles to his credit. This guy could be an all time great if he keeps playing like this. Although MLB odds makers aren't offering the best value, look for New York to beat up on the worst team in baseball.
