We've hit a bit of a slump with our daily MLB picks, but hey! We are still up over 50 units on the season, so there is no need to panic as we will turn this thing around fast.

New York Mets vs. Philadelphia PhilliesNot In a Hurry To Come Back East
The New York Mets had a blast, if you will, at Coors Field as they outscored the Colorado Rockies 33-19 in a 3 games sweep. Most teams buckle under the pressure of playing at Coors Field. The Mets top-rated pitching couldn't handle it, but their offense did and you're going to see a lot of improved statistics for the New Yorkers.

One player who's a happy camper is Yoenis Cespedes as he had one of the better games that you're ever going to see, going 5 for 6 with 3 HR and 7 RBI in a single game.

"deGrom is Da Man"
Now, New York has possibly this year's ace, Jacob deGrom (12-6, 1.98), starting for them tonight and he's been nothing short of spectacular. He's in the sub 2.00 club along with Zack Greinke and that's a very precious club as only elite pitchers belong to this group. deGrom has won his last 2 starts and has allowed just 1 run in his last 14 2/3 innings. Although the Phillies have shown signs of life, I don't see them having an easy time with deGrom and neither do the odds makers.

David Wright Returns
With all of the Mets success, it's vey easy to forget about David Wright as he went through a very serious health scare. Wright is a career .298 hitter and has been the leader of the Mets in the past. It will be interesting to see how he incorporates himself back into this ball club. Wright had a quick start to the season going 11 for 33 with 1 HR and 4 RBI. The New York Mets have been in need of offense and all of a sudden, the lineup is starting to fill up with above average hitting. My only concern would be Wright inadvertantly messing with team chemistry. Expect David Wright to come back the way he started the season and ready to go.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Miami MarlinsCan J.A. Happ Keep the Pirates Winning?
Normally, I wouldn't touch a game like this, but there are a limited amount of games and the Pittsburgh Pirates (74-48) are playing so well, I don't think that they can be stopped by the Marlins on the road.

As for Happ, he has played well in his last 2 starts, allowing 1 run in 11 1/3 innings. If Happ can just keep the Bucs in the game and pitch 5 to 6 innings, the Pirates offense will take care of the rest. This sort of reminds me of C.C. Sabathia and the Yankees. If Happ get's into trouble, Clint Hurdle will give him the quick hook as the Pirates are 3.5 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals and just happen to be in a division with a dominant team ahead of them.

Team Depth
The Pirates have a nice chunk of hitters in Andrew McCutchen (19 HR, 79 RBI, .295), Starling Marte (15 HR, 61 RBI, 25 SB, .291) and Jung Ho Kang (12 HR, 46 RBI, 290 ) that can do the job for the on any give night along with Neil Walker and Pedro Alvarez. Offense is definitely not a concern.
