New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles: If the Yankees Lose, They Don't Deserve a Playoff Bid
I've been riding the Yankees backs all season long and it's been a successful season. However, they are the only team in their division with a losing record in their last 10 games and yesterday's double header was an embarrassment.
This is a team that needed 1 win in 3 games or a combination of other teams losing to get the home field in a wild card situation as home field advantage is crucial.
Needless to say, due to the day-night double header, the Yankees lost both games to the Orioles and the Houston Astros won their game. The objective in this game is simple as Michael Pineda squares off against an inferior Chris Tillman. The Yankees need to win this game to bring the wild card to Yankee Stadium, a stadium that favors them with a short right field porch,
This game is about the pitching because New York's offense has been abysmal. This is where New York has the edge as Michael Pineda (12-9, 4.24), who has been known to have some big outings will be starting the most important game of his young career.
Pineda is coming off of a 10-4 loss to Boston in which he allowed 7 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings. Two things that I can say about Pineda's game is that he's resilient and competitive and that's what it takes to beat a team like the O's. Baltimore will be sporting stars such as Manny Machado.Machado made no bones about finishing strong, but we all know that he wants to spoil the Yankees season and the way that's he's been hitting all season long, he has the ability to do so.
For the season, Machado has 35 HR, 86 RBI, and a .288 BA to go along with 20 steals. This is an Orioles team that can hit and the responsibility of winning, rests upon the shoulders of "Pinetar Pineda" Look for New York to take control of the wild card situation and close out the season with a victory.

Washington Nationals at New York Mets: Laughable
I know that a no-hitter is a major accomplishment, nevermind a 2nd no-hitter, but I called this game yesterday in saying that the Mets would be a no show. A no hitter is a major accomplishment, but when a pitcher is facing all back ups and no starters, it takes away from it's luster.
If you saw Max Scherzer's reaction after his no-hitter, it was as if he won the Noble Peace Prize. Simply stated, it's not a legitmate no hitter in my opinion and people will disagee. Today's game has no real meaning. Scherzer can take his no-hitter and go home as the Mets are the National League East Divisional Champions.
deGrom In Limited Action
We don't need to go into deep a description of this game as Jacon deGrom will be getting a little warm up before the playoff starts and I expect New York to finish out the season with an exclamation point. deGrom is such a cool customer at 14-8 with a 2.60 ERA and will only get better. deGrom will be facing Tanner Roark and the difference in this game is Washington will be putting their best guys out ther while the Mets put out the subs. There's no Scherzer here and deGrom has been money all season long. Look for the Mets to win a low scoring game.
