Joe C. Record 39-19 +17.66 Units: Recap
Other sports can't compare to the MLB as there's a game practically every day. You go even like we did yesterday and you immediately get another chance to "shoot a dart at the dartboard", with more picks.

Sunday was a wash as we picked two games that went into extra innings. We lost with the Padres as an underdog at home in 12 innings, 4-2 to the Dodgers and we won the Sunday Night Baseball game with the Chicago Cubs over the Cincinnati Reds in 11 innings 2-1. An even day is acceptable, but I tend to side with the chalk and my last 3 losses have been underdogs and that doesn't sit well with me. Let's see what's in store for Monday.

Toronto Blue Jays (34-30) vs. New York Mets (34-30)

Will the Weather Hold Up?
I found the perfect game as the Toronto Blue Jays have the most productive offense in the Major Leagues by far. Their 356 runs are far and away the most in the most in the Major Leagues.

Not only that, the Blue Jays have won 11 games in a row and are a slight underdog in this game. I wanted to get away from the dog, but this game is a steal as the Mets start Noah Syndergaard (2-4, 4.15) against veteran Mark Buehrle (7-4, 4.25). I'm really hoping that the weather doesn't interfere as this is is an outright steal if you pick Toronto. It's currently overcast in New York and showers are expected during the time of the game. That said, this game should be able to be played and I'm more interested in the Toronto offense, therefore, if Buehrle got pulled due to a rain delay, I wouldn't be devastated.

Inexperienced and Overhyped
I got to experience Syndergaard's last game and he simply couldn't get anyone out versus the San Francisco Giants in a 5-0 loss. He went 6 innings and allowed 4 runs and 10 hits in the loss. This was the second game in a row in which he allowed double-digit hits.  Just think of this pitcher who has allowed opposing hitters to hit .293 off of him, facing the Likes of Jose Reyes, Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, and Edwin Encarnacion. I don't know if he will get crushed, but the Jays should be able to serve up this inexperienced pitcher who does throw hard.

I don't have to lay any numbers out there. Buehrle has been a good Major League pitcher and he has a top-notch offense to support him. Look for Toronto to make it 12 straight wins in our 2 Unit Play.

New York Yankees (34-28) vs. Miami Marlins (27-37)

Good Players, But a Losing Team
This is the theme for the Miami Marlins and might change when all-star pitcher Jose Fernandez returns, but for the time being, the Marlins are a team with the best base runner and hitter for average in leadoff man Dee Gordon and the fish also have the most powerful slugger in the league in Giancarlo Stanton. The problem is the Marlins pitching and a pitching friendly ball park isn't an asset to Stanton who is a budding star.

Tanaka Time
The MLB odds favored Yankees have to be happy as they lead a very subpar American League East Division, winning 7 out of their last 10 games. The Yanks had a tough time dealing with the Orioles, but finished the series on a positive note with a much needed 5-3 victory. Now, they get to send their ace, Masahiro Tanaka, to the mound in a ball park where it is impossible to hit home runs, and this is the perfect spot for New York as Tanaka has been near perfect since returning from his injury.

The Yankees management were deathly afraid that Tanaka would need Tommy John Surgery, but apparently not as Tanaka is 4-1 with a 2.48 ERA this season. He's held opposing hitters to a mere .172 batting average. This will be interesting to see how he deals with Gordon,  who has been near perfect all season long while Stanton has been a beast, but is nowhere near .300.

In his last 4 starts, Tanaka has been nearly perfect. He's allowed just 3 earned runs in 27 1/3 innings. I don't see anything changing here. Guys like Mark Teixeira. Alex Rodriguez, and Brian McCann have been doing the job offensively for the Yankees and even Stephen Drew has been mashing the baseball. The Yankees have a perfect situation here and with Tanaka taking the mound, are worth laying the juice as part of your MLB picks today.
