The Cleveland Indians haven’t had much success against quality teams this season. That said, they to take on the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday night. Let's look at the MLB odds for this duel.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this American League Wild Card matchup at Progressive Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET on TBS.

Living on the road

Tampa Bay has traveled 3,627 miles over the last week, but the team is motivated to continue its 2013 campaign, as it earned a spot in this affair by picking up a 5-2 road win over the Texas Rangers Monday.

The Rays have won eight of their last 11 games away from Tropicana Field, while the UNDER went 39-38-4 in that situation since the start of the season.

Hello October!

Cleveland is set to make its first playoff appearance since 2007, as it closed the regular season on a 10-game win streak, but those victories came against the likes of the Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros.

The Indians have earned this spot by having one of the hottest pitching staffs in baseball—ranking fourth in the Majors in ERA since the All-Star break.

Rays starting pitcher Alex Cobb (11-3, 2.76 ERA) ended the regular season on a personal three-game winning streak, including a 4-0 road victory over the New York Yankees, as he allowed three hits over seven shutout innings.

The right-hander is 4-3 with a 2.70 ERA in nine road games, with opposing hitters batting .231 against him.

In three career games versus the Indians, Cobb has compiled a 2-1 record and 2.70 ERA—not allowing a home run in 16.2 combined frames.

Indians starting pitcher Danny Salazar (2-3, 3.12 ERA) has watched the club alternate wins and losses over his last eight efforts, as he comes off a 7-2 home win over the Chicago White Sox on Sept. 25.

The right-hander went 2-0 with a 3.13 ERA in four home starts during his rookie campaign—registering 33 strikeouts and issuing just five walks in 23 frames.

Salazar will be making his first career appearance against the Rays.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Rays for their MLB Picks, as the Indians went 30-44 versus winning teams during the 2013 campaign.
