Betting Preview
The Angels and the Dodgers finish off their four game interleague series tonight in Anaheim. The Angels lead in this Freeway series 2-1 after last night’s 8-1 beat down of their cross town rivals. Tonight’s final of the series pins the newcomer Jhoulys Chacin for the home team Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim vs the rookie Ross Stripling for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Stripling will need his A game tonight if the Dodgers are going to have a shot at salvaging a split in the series.

Los Angeles Angels
The red hot Angels have scored 45 runs in their last 7 games. Anaheim has the fifth highest team OPS in all of baseball the past week. These stats all include an outing vs Clayton Kershaw in Dodger Stadium 2 days ago where they were only able to plate one run.

On the flip side, the Dodgers starter rookie Ross Stripling, whose time in the Dodgers' rotation could be numbered due to the recent arrival of Mike Bolsinger and the impending return of Hyun-jin Ryu (shoulder). Stripling won the fifth starter position out of Spring Training after a string of injuries to the rotation and posted a 4.26 ERA in 38 innings. He has a tough task to quiet this streaky Angels offense tonight.

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers offense was shut down yesterday by Angels pitcher Nick Tropeano who was excellent holding the Dodgers to seven hits and one earned run through seven innings of work. To make matters worse for the visitors, Adrian Gonzalez missed his first game of the season Tuesday and likely will sit out another couple contests because of tightness in his lower back. "At this point - and I know that he's completely against going on the DL - right now, we're going to give it a couple days and see where we're at," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told the team's website.

Injuries have been the thorn in the side of this Dodgers team all season. The health situation really comes to light when they have to play in American League Ballparks, the Dodgers roster construction very much hurts them in being able to utilize the designated hitter, ultimately putting the club at a disadvantage. With injuries lingering from spring training, plus new issues like Adrian Gonzalez back problems, putting the Dodgers in a tough place having to hope to win low scoring games and relying on rookie pitchers to navigate a hot American League lineup. Stripling has also struggled going through opposing lineups for the third time, allowing opponents to hit .355/.459/.581 in their third plate appearances against the right-hander.

Jhoulys Chacin struck out four, recorded 12 ground-ball outs and needed only 90 pitches to record 21 outs in his first outing since becoming an Angel. He navigated a tougher lineup in the Mariners then he will face tonight against the Dodgers. The Angels are playing at home with the hotter lineup and the more experienced better pitcher facing a banged up lineup that cannot fully utilize the designated hitter. I recommend a wager on the home team at a moderate favorite price as your MLB Pick.
