We’re going to examine Monday’s total in Game 3 of the ALCS between Kansas City & Toronto. Go inside to read this informative betting preview with our pick on the total.

ALCS returns to North of the Border
Toronto returns home in a 2-0 hole in their ALCS against Kansas City. The opening pitch at the Rogers Centre is slated for 8:07 PM ET. My area of concentration pertaining to this game will focus on Monday’s total. Current (12:05 PM ET) MLB betting odds indicate this total is 8.0 right across the major sportsbook landscape.

Starting Pitchers
Johnny Cueto will get the nod for Kansas City this evening. After enduring an extremely tough stretch between 8/21 and 9/13 that saw him go 0-5 with a horrible 9.80 ERA, Cueto has seemingly steadied the ship during his last six starts. The hard throwing right-hander is coming off a gem in his last outing, allowing 2 earned runs on just 2 hits while walking none in 8.0 innings of work. That superb outing came at the most opportune time in Game 5 of the ALDS against Houston.

Marcus Stroman will make the start today in this crucial game for Toronto. Stroman has pitched extremely well in four starts at home in 2015, posting a stellar 2.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Stroman has displayed superb form in his last five starts overall, compiling a terrific 1.80 ERA and 0.97 WHIP.

Royals Timely Hitting
The Royals return to the road after playing three consecutive games at home. During those previous three, Kansas City averaged a robust 6.0 runs per game despite amassing only a combined 24 hits. The key to that offensive success was their knack for timely hitting. The Royals had only a combined 10 men left on base in those last three games, including 4 left on or less in each of those contests. They will be hard pressed to duplicate that feat on the road.

Final Take
Despite Toronto’s gaudy offensive numbers at home in 2015, they’ve still gone 46-33 (58.2%) under the total at the hitter friendly Rogers Centre. It also must be worth noting that John Hirschbeck will be the home plate umpire. Hirschbeck has seen games go 283-199 (58.7%) under the total in his career when he’s calling balls and strikes. I like this game to be a low scoring affair for one of my MLB picks.
