A good way to make a betting profit in the MLB is by betting on the props. We'll look at the series props as there are some really appealing offerings in Bovada Sportsbook.

Please Note:
Due to the time that the starting lineups come out, the player props come out later in the day. We will have those available to you for most of the week, but today, let's start off with the series props as they are currently available.

Miami Marlins +145 vs. Toronto Blue Jays -175: Series Price MLB Odds
While the Toronto Blue Jays are finally catching fire, on a 5 game losing streak, we must not forget that the Marlins are a team that possess the strongest hitter in the majors in Giancarlo Stanton and one of the best contact hitters in Dee Gordon. I always say that the Marlins pickup of Gordon is a steal because he's not a home run hitter and the Marlins home park is taylor-made for him as he's hitting an amazing .372 with 20 stolen bases.

Where the Blue Jays are concerned, their offense is more powerful as any opposing pitcher will have a difficult time when facing the Jays from the top to the bottom of their lineup. During their 5 game winning streak, the Jays have outscored their opponent 35-11. Without even thinking about the power of Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion and the speed and power of Jose Reyes, you have to take the Jays for this prop MLB pick on pure momentum alone as they've been dominating.

Houston Astros +120 vs. Chicago White Sox -150: Series Price MLB Odds
If Houston were somehow able to defeat Chris Sale, who hasn't allowed a run in his last 14 2/3 innings, then this prop would be a slam dunk in favor of the superior Astros.

The Astros are on a 4 game losing streak and while the White Sox are going nowhere this season, I expect Sale to win game 1 for the White Sox and that would they would only have to win 1 of the remaining 2 games in this series. Jose Altuve hasn't played to the level that he did last season and this series is in Chicago. All of the intangibles point to Chicago.

Even though Dallas Keuchel is pitching tomorrow and that could mean a win for the Astros and this series can go down to a rubber match in which Chicago starter, Jose Quintana (2-6, 4.28) is far from a given where winning is concerned, I'm going to lean lightly towards the MLB odds favored home team in this instance. Chicago is a bottom-feeder, but they're only 5 games under .500 at 25-30 and are quite capable of taking this series.

MLB Pick- Chicago White Sox -150

Philadelphia Phillies +120 vs. Cincinnati Reds -150: Series Price MLB Odds
I'm going to have to stick with the chalk in all 3 of these series. Yes, Cole Hamels is starting today against Mike Leake and that matchup favors Philly, but Hamels doesn't receive run support and is on a weak team. Let's not forget that the Phillies are 22-36 and have dropped 7 out of their last 10 games. This is a losing team. While the Reds have had a rough time of it at 24-31, they're much better than their record indicates and have a very formidable offense with Joey Votto (10 HR, 31 RBI, .295), Brandon Phillips (.309 BA), and Todd Frazier (16 HR, 35 RBI, .273 BA).

The Phillies are an aging team in which Chase Utley is having possibly the worst season of his career. Despite Hamels opening up this series, I'm siding with Cincy at home as the far superior baseball team.
