Afternoon MLB Odds Update

Enjoying your Saturday? Let us help you decipher the best MLB betting value spots for today's games.

Yankees (Phelps) vs. Orioles (Britton)

Covered by Joe Freda

Two wins to start off the series have pushed the Orioles two games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East race. The Red Sox are still top dogs in the division though at 49-33 overall.

Baltimore's high-powered offense has been key to their success, and they'll try to make life difficult on David Phelps, who's 5-4 with a 4.01 ERA on the year. Phelps has pitched four scoreless innings against the Orioles this season.

Runs weren't commonplace in last night's game, but Joe believes we'll see a little more offense here tonight. With the OVER at 5-2 in Zach Britton's past seven starts at home, he's going with the OVER 9 runs with his MLB picks.

Blue Jays (Rogers) vs. Red Sox (Doubront)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Boston takes a four-game winning streak in today's encounter with Esmil Rogers and the Blue Jays. Current MLB odds offerings have the Red Sox favored at a price of -150.

The Blue Jays, thanks to a highly successful month, have fought their way back into relevance in the division. They have a chance of taking the win this afternoon because of how solid Rogers (3-3, 3.46 ERA) has been.

Nonetheless, it's hard to go against a team that's gone 27-15 in their own ballpark, which is the case with Boston. Ron believes the Red Sox will be able to make it five wins in a row and is taking them at -150.

Diamondbacks (Kennedy) vs. Braves (Hudson)

Covered by Joe Freda

Tim Hudson has always been good at home and this season isn't any different. Julio Teheran and the Braves bullpen baffled Arizona yesterday – we'll see if Hudson can do something similar.

For Arizona, Ian Kennedy gets the start and he's surrendered only three earned runs over his past two road assignments. He also gets the luxury of facing off against an Atlanta offense that's struggled to generate runs lately.

That's why Joe is feeling as if the UNDER 7.5 runs may be the best route to take with our sports picks today. The UNDER has hit the mark in five straight games for Arizona when going up against a right-handed starter.

Phillies (Lee) vs. Dodgers (Ryu)

Covered by Willie Bee

Speaking of UNDER plays, you have to consider a similar pick with these two hurlers on the mound tonight. Cliff Lee and Hyun-Jin Ryu have both been phenomenal for their respective ballclubs this season.

The Dodgers were absolutely pummeled by the Phillies last night so you know they'll be doing everything in their power to even the score. L.A. has managed to go a solid 23-21 at home this season.

But, Willie is shrugging off the prowess of both starting pitchers and is going against the grain by adding the OVER 6.5 runs to his collection of picks. He believes these two lineups, filled with some truly professional hitters, will be able to do some damage tonight.

Biggest ML Favorites

Pittsburgh Pirates (-220) vs. Milwaukee Brewers

Boston Red Sox (-150) vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Atlanta Braves (-150) vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Detroit Tigers (-140) at Tampa Bay Rays

Los Angeles Angels (-135) at. Houston Astr

Morning MLB Odds Report

Yankees (Phelps) vs. Orioles (Britton)

Covered by Joe Freda

The Orioles clawed their way back to a 4-3 win yesterday – can they secure another victory this evening against young David Phelps?

Phelps is 5-4 with a 4.01 ERA and 1.34 WHIP on the season and he's coming off a pretty good start against Tampa Bay his last time out on the mound. He held the Rays to eight hits and two runs in a 6-3 victory at home.

For Baltimore, Zach Britton will make his fourth start of the year. He hasn't had much luck at all so far, posting a 5.51 ERA and 1.78 WHIP thus far. Though the baseball odds haven't been finalized, it's essentially a lock that Baltimore will be a small favorite in their own ballpark.

Blue Jays (Rogers) vs. Red Sox (Doubront)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Few teams have had much luck at Fenway this season. The Red Sox are a mighty impressive 27-15 at home this season and will be hoping to add another victory to that tally this afternoon.

It could be more difficult this time around though, as Esmil Rogers has been quite effective for the Blue Jays since being brought into the rotation.

There's no doubt Toronto is playing better ball lately, despite falling to the Red Sox in the first two games of the series. Look for them to get at least a few runs on Felix Doubront, who's had his fair share of inconsistency this year. The Red Sox are favored at -145 for our MLB picks.

Diamondbacks (Kennedy) vs. Braves (Hudson)

Covered by Joe Freda

Here's the case of another outstanding home team trying to get the job done in the afternoon. The Braves, 26-11 at Turner Field, used a great outing out of Julio Teheran to score a 3-0 win yesterday.

Can Atlanta do it again today? They'll turn to Tim Hudson, who's been very heard to beat at home. He's gone 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA in seven starts in Atlanta, as opposed to a 1-7 record with a 5.71 ERA on the road.

Ian Kennedy gets the nod as the starting pitcher for the Diamondbacks, who could really use a big road win to get back on track. Despite allowing two or fewer runs in his two latest road starts, Kennedy is 1-3 with a 5.60 ERA in nine overall starts outside of Phoenix in 2013. That's one reason why the Braves are heavily favored at -150.

Phillies (Lee) vs. Dodgers (Ryu)

Covered by Willie Bee

Runs are going to be hard to come by when Hyun-Jin Ryu and Cliff Lee duel it out in Los Angels late tonight. As of now the Dodgers are -110 favorites, while the total is listed at 6.5 runs.

Lee has been nothing short of spectacular for the middle-of-the-road Phillies. He's 9-2 with a 2.51 ERA and 0.96 WHIP and has actually performed better on the road (6-1, 1.92 ERA) than he has at home (3-1, 3.53 ERA).

Ryu, though, has been excellent as well, posting a 6-3 record with a 2.85 ERA on the season. What a pickup he has been for the Dodgers, but they'll need him to be at his very best if they want to top Lee and the Phillies tonight.
