Some terrific pitching matchups highlight an action-packed Saturday of MLB baseball.

Get yourself prepared for another busy day of baseball. Are you on the same side as our handicappers?

Rangers (Holland) vs. Tigers (Scherzer)

Covered by Willie Bee

A great pitching matchup here, as left-hander Derek Holland and righty Max Scherzer go head-to-head. The Tigers, considering Scherzer is undefeated and all, are favored here at home, this coming after an easy win in the series opener yesterday.

Willie was on the money with his MLB pick for that game, correctly making a play on the Detroit run-line. For today he's looking out for somewhat of a pitchers duel and taking the UNDER 8 runs.

Red Sox (Lester) vs. Athletics (Griffin)

Covered by Joe Freda

John Lackey pitched a great game last night, leading to a 4-2 Boston win. Next up is Jon Lester in the rotation, who has really let his performances slide after a very promising start to his season. He'll be opposed by A.J. Griffin.

The baseball odds list the Athletics as -130 favorites and Joe believes the home team will get back on track to tie the series up. If interested in a total play, the O/U can be locked down at eight runs right now, with even money on both sides.

Angels (Weaver) vs. Mariners (Hernandez)

Covered by Joe Catalano

Felix Hernandez or Jered Weaver. Who are you going to back for tonight's game at Safeco? The Mariners have gone 23-25 at home this season, with Albert Pujols and the Angels at 20-22 on the road heading into tonight.

With these two hurlers doing great things, it's no shocker that Joe has recommended the UNDER 7 runs to his readers. We can't wait to see which ace wins out in this one.

Mets (Torres) vs. Pirates (Burnett)

Covered by Ron Patrick

The Mets still have a lot of ground to make up, but they've been playing a lot better recently and aren't going to go down easy to Pittsburgh. The Pirates found that out the hard way last night, needing extra innings to get the win.

Tonight Carlos Torres will make his first start of the season for New York. He's been excellent in relief and is now getting a shot in the rotation, while Pittsburgh will have A.J. Burnett on the mound. Ron is taking on some chalk and siding with the Pirates (-170) to win.

Giants (Lincecum) vs. Padres (Volquez)

Covered by Willie Bee

Could this be the start of a turn-around for the Giants? They've won both games against San Diego in the series so far and will try to make that three out of three with Tim Lincecum on the hill against San Diego's Edinson Volquez.

Willie has been right with each of his sports picks for this set so far. Tonight he's staying the course and choosing a San Francisco win at a price of about -102 at the sportsbooks.

Nationals (Haren) vs. Marlins (Fernandez)

Covered by Joe Freda

Have you seen what Jose Fernandez has been doing this season? He's quickly become the ace of the staff in his rookie season and we reckon a large chunk of the public is going to side with the young right-hander for this evening's start against Bryce Harper and the Nationals.

Joe is one of those people. The Marlins have won eight of their previous eleven at home and are going against a struggling pitcher in Dan Haren. That's why the Marlins at approximately -125 is the right play in Joe's mind.

MORNING ODDS REPORT

Here's the breakdown of the early odds for the upcoming games

Rangers (Holland) vs. Tigers (Scherzer)

Covered by Willie Bee

The Tigers raced out to a big lead in the first inning against Justin Grimm and never looked back. Now Max Scherzer, who's 13-0 with a 3.06 ERA, will try to put Detroit 2-0 up in the series as -165 favorites on the MLB odds board.

Red Sox (Lester )vs. Athletics (Griffin)

Covered by Joe Freda

Jon Lester may be 8-5 on the year, but he's coming off a month of June in which he went 2-2 with a 7.62 ERA in five starts. He's also 5-5 with a 5.73 ERA in 12 road appearances this season. A.J. Griffin and the Athletics are -125 favorites.

Angels (Weaver) vs. Mariners (Hernandez)

Covered by Joe Catalano

This is the game of the series that everyone's been waiting for. Two terrific starters try to one up one another, but it's going to be hard to go against Felix Hernandez, who's 9-4 with a 2.69 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Seattle is favored at a price of -110.

Mets (Torres) vs. Pirates (Burnett)

Covered by Ron Patrick

The Pirates won in extra innings last night and should have a good chance of winning again today with A.J. Burnett taking the hill. The MLB betting lines agree with that notion, with Pittsburgh quoted at -180 to get the win.

Giants (Lincecum) vs. Padres (Volquez)

Covered by Willie Bee

It's been a rough first half for both Edinson Volquez and Tim Lincecum, but we'll see if one of them can put forth an effective effort tonight. This is one of the closest games of the day in terms of the odds, with both teams listed at -105 at time of writing.

Nationals (Haren) vs. Marlins (Fernandez)

Covered by Joe Freda

Because of how darn good Jose Fernandez has been in his rookie season, the Marlins can be found as -130 favorites up against Dan Haren and the Nationals for our MLB picks. Fernandez has gone 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA in eight home starts so far this season.
