We’re coming to the final two days of the baseball regular season and the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers refuse to lose as the wild card spot is still up for grabs.

What an exciting finish! See who we like for Saturday’s MLB picks.

Tampa Bay is also tied with Cleveland, but it’s the Tribe that’s feasting off of an easy schedule with an 8 game winning streak and the Rangers who are on a 5 game winning streak.

New York Yankees (83-77) at Houston Astros (51-109)

Pettitte vs. Clemens?

Andy Pettitte makes his last start of his career and against Clemens; not Roger Clemens but right-handed relief pitcher Paul Clemens (4-6, 5.69). The Houston Astros are just collapsing down the stretch having lost 13 straight games and the Yankees were able to snap a losing streak against Houston last night 3-2. This game looks pretty lopsided as the undermanned Yankees look to finish their season out strong.

He Can Still Play

If any of you saw Andy Pettitte on Mariano Rivera Day at Yankee Stadium this past Sunday, you can clearly see that even at 41 years of age, Andy still has plenty left in the tank. Pettitte suffered an unfortunate loss as he allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 7 innings. Pettitte hasn’t surrendered more than 3 runs in a start in his last 9 appearances.

Maybe it’s the adrenaline of knowing that he’s never going to pitch again for the Yankees, but Andy Pettitte is finishing on a high. Look for Pettitte to give a solid 6 to 7 innings against the Astros. Houston is his home and Pettitte doesn’t want to be embarrassed in front of the home town crowd.

The Yankees are playing a lot of reserves in this game, but with Cano, Soriano, and Granderson leading the way, the Yanks should have no problem tonight.

MLB Pick- Yankees -1.5 -105 at Bet 365

Boston Red Sox (97-63) at Baltimore Orioles (83-77)

Top Contender

Boston has been dominant all season and after a 12-3 win at Baltimore yesterday, it seems as if they could be the betting favorites to win the World Series. This is a team that thinks team first before individual play. In their last 2 games, the Sox have outscored their opponent by a staggering 27-8. Can anyone stop this team?

Lester vs. Chen

Boston also gets a favorable starting pitching matchup as Jon Lester (15-8, 3.67) squares off against Wei-Yin Chen (77, 4.03). In his last start Lester notched his 100 victory of his career and by the way he’s been pitching, it looks like the next 100 wins will come fairly quick. Lester is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA in the month of September and hasn’t allowed more than 3 runs in his last 13 starts. With hot hitters like Pedroia, Ortiz, Gomes, and Nava backing him, Lester should have an easy time against an Orioles team that’s given up on the season as they’ll be going home after Sunday.

The O’s have won just 3 out of their last 10 games and it seems like once they knew that they were out of playoff contention, it took the wind out of their sails.

Chris Davis

After a major slump that has seen his average drop down to the .280’s, home run king, Chris Davis, has picked the pace up a bit as this has been a fantastic season for the 27 year old. Davis recorded his 53rd home run of the season yesterday and I look for him to finish out the season strong.

Look for Boston to keep dominating and to defeat the Orioles at Camden Yards.

MLB Pick- Boston Red Sox -135 MLB odds.
