The Astros have come out hitting the ball well I think they will have a tough matchup today. Is Kansas City good value on the road or should you back the home Astros? MLB pick inside.

MLB odds makers have put this game at a pick at around -110 for both teams. For one of my MLB picks I will back the Kansas City Royals at -110 at Bookmaker. I believe they have the better pitcher on the mound which should make the difference.

Houston Astros
Houston comes in averaging 17 total bases per game which ranks sixth in MLB and they start right-hander Scott Feldman who has a career 4.44 ERA. The Astros have been one of the better hitting team so far this season averaging 5.14 runs per game which ranks 11th in the league off of 8.86 hits which ranks 13th. This a really good lineup but they do strikeout quite a bit averaging almost 10 per game which ranks them 25th in the league.

Feldman did not have a very good outing his first time on the mound this year giving up four runs in just four innings along with two home runs against Milwaukee. He did pitch well against KC last year but he is not the type of guy that is going to come in and be lights out against a good hitting team like Kansas City. In his last three years he has a 4.30 ERA at home with batters hitting over .260 against them. Although he can be sufficient at times I expect the Royals to get their share runs today.

Kansas City Royals
Kansas City averages just 3.50 runs per game and start Yordano Ventura who comes in with a career 3.61 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. So far they have not been setting the world on fire at the plate but they are consistent enough up and down the lineup and I like the matchup today against Houston's starter. Kansas City doesn't strike out a lot averaging under eight per game which ranks eighth in the major leagues. Although their offensive statistics are not that great overall right now I expect them to slowly improve across the board. Ventura had a decent outing against Minnesota in his first appearance of the season allowing just two earned runs off of two hits in five innings.

The main issue for him was control as he allowed six walks in that contest. I really like his stuff and he can be very tough against most teams when he's on. He struggled a little bit against Houston last year in the playoffs allowing six runs in seven innings pitched off of eight hits and overall did not pitch well throughout the entire playoffs. However, in the regular-season he was extremely good against the Astros last year allowing just one earned run off of six hits in seven innings. If he can get his command going he should be able to do enough to give Kansas City a very good chance to win this game.
