Free MLB picks for tonight's matchup between the Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins. Where do we believe that the best edge lies for MLB bettors tonight?

The Kansas City Royals have picked up steam with seven straight wins, topped by Tuesday’s 7-2 victory at minus 130 MLB odds over the Minnesota Twins. Wednesday’s rematch at Target Field has a pair of righties dueling, with Kansas City’s Jeremy Guthrie (10-7, 4.27 ERA) facing Minnesota’s Kevin Correia (7-7, 4.56 ERA).

Check out our Wednesday Morning MLB Odds & Betting Lines Report.

Royals, Moustakas top Twins

Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas drilled a pair home runs in Tuesday’s affair, while mate Eric Hosmer poked his 19th double of the year. Kansas City’s Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez both hit 2-for-4, while designated hitter Billy Butler left six men on base in a 0-for-5 night.

Minnesota’s Joe Mauer and Ryan Doumit drove in one run each, combining to bat 3-for-7. The Twins were edged in hits, 12-5, with first baseman Justin Morneau going 0-for-3 from the cleanup spot.

Correia lit up in Seattle

Correia logged his third loss in six starts with Thursday’s 8-2 defeat for Minnesota as a 170 road dog against the Seattle Mariners. The 11-year veteran was shelled for six runs on seven hits, departing after 1 2/3 frames of action.

Minnesota avoided a shutout with a pair of ninth inning RBIs from Chris Herrmann and Doug Bernier. Twins mates Trevor Plouffe and Clete Thomas were both held to 0-for-4 nights, combining to leave nine men on base.

Guthrie goes six at home

Guthrie picked up his second straight win on the same night’s card, with Kansas City’s 7-1 victory as a 127 home dog against the Baltimore Orioles. The 34-year-old tossed five strikeouts over six innings, giving up Baltimore’s sole run on six hits.

Kansas City’s Alex Gordon and David Lough drove in two runs each, with Gordon poking his third triple of the year. Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson hit 2-for-3 from the lineup’s No. 9 slot, while the lopsided affair’s eight runs ‘pushed’ the closing ‘total.’

Back the Twins as faves

The MLB odds at Bet365 opened Correia as a 106 home favorite, while early action on Minnesota lifted the premium to minus 110. The ‘total’ was first set at 8 ½, with a minus 120 tag added to the UNDER.

I am backing Correia and the Twins with my MLB picks tonight, looking for Kansas City’s winning streak to end in this spot.

Correia should settle back down in his return home, holding foes to a .293 OBP over his 10 starts at Target Field. Minnesota has cashed at 7-2 in its last nine spots as home ‘chalk,’ including a 2-0 mark in a pair of duels against the Royals last month.

Guthrie has given up some sizable numbers on the road, allowing a 1.51 WHIP and .356 OBP. Kansas City is 2-5 in the righty’s last seven outings away from home, with Guthrie most recently allowing five runs over seven frames to the Cleveland Indians.

Minnesota’s Joe Mauer has two homers in a 6-for-19 history against Guthrie’s arm, while mate Trevor Plouffe has a pair of extra-base hits over his nine at-bat’s. Look for the Twins to pile in some runs, collecting at a low premium to even this series.
